There are three types of Careers in The Sims 4. Some of these Careers affect players’ gameplay, like the Doctor Career, where players have to travel with their Sim to the job location. However, the others don’t take players to any locations, but the Sim either works from home or, like the Culinary Career, the Sim would disappear for a few hours.
When Simmers reach a certain rank in a Career, they’ll have to choose one of the two branches. Keep in mind, that not all The Sims 4 Careers branch out like the Doctor Career. Sometimes, a Career will have a branch that pays more than the other. There are other Careers that pay by gigs like Interior Design and Actor. However, the amount of money players can make depends on how many gigs they decide to complete.
Updated on September 23, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: In the sea of cheats where players have the ability to earn unlimited Simoleons, some Simmers prefer to earn their money slowly over the gameplay in The Sims 4. Although it is much easier to cheat money, there is another method to earn Simoleons quickly, which is having your Sim work in a high-paying Career. The Sim will start slowly with the earnings, but it will get better eventually once they advance in the Career ranks.
25 Politician
Weekly Pay: $9,520
Politician is a Career included in the City Living Expansion Pack. Players will have a chance to become President or work on a charity case while leveling up the Charisma Skill in The Sims 4.
Eventually, at rank five, Simmers are asked to choose between the Politician branch and the Charity Organizer branch. Becoming President means players will enjoy $340/hour or $2,380/day. While it’s not the most rewarding Career, $9,520/week is definitely not bad for Simmers who care about the job more than the Simoleons.
24 Musician (Entertainer)
Weekly Pay: $9,520
The ideal mood for Sims working in the Entertainer Career is Inspired. While having this moodlet, it’s best to practice the required Skills, as it helps increase it much faster. Upon choosing the Musician branch at rank five, players must focus on Piano and Guitar/Violin Skills.
After getting promoted to rank 10 in the Musician path of the Entertainer Career, you will start to work seven hours for four days a week. As for the Simoleons, Simmers will receive $340/day or $2,380/day, which translates to $9,520/week.
23 Chef (Culinary)
Weekly Pay: $9,840
The Culinary Career path comes with many advantages, especially if you choose the Chef branch at rank six. Not only will players receive more Simoleons than the Mixologist path, but they will also obtain some high-quality kitchen furniture.
After reaching the final rank in the Chef Career, Simmers will get $410/hour and $2,460/day by working six hours a day for four days. So, you will earn $9,840/week in addition to all the previously obtained reward items for being promoted.
22 Supervisor Branch (Salaryperson)
Weekly Pay: $9,940
Simmers can choose to work as a Salaryperson thanks to the Snowy Escape Expansion Pack. Climbing on the Career ladder until level five will make the Sim choose between two branches, one of them being the Supervisor Branch.

21 Pro Athlete (Athlete)
Weekly Pay: $9,990
It’s not a secret that any branch of the Athlete Career requires the Fitness Skill, which can be leveled up by various actions such as working out, jogging, or reading books. Additionally, you might need to increase the Charisma Skill by choosing certain dialogue options or practicing in the mirror.
Eventually, you will be faced with a couple of branches in the Athlete Career after reaching Rank five. Choosing the Pro Athlete branch allows players to work five days a week for six hours while earning $333/hour or $1,998/day. This means that Simmers can enjoy $9,990/week in The Sims 4.
20 Floral Designer
Weekly Pay: $10,500
The Floral Designer is actually a branch of the Gardener Career in The Sims 4. Simmers will get to enjoy arranging different types of flowers and earn Simoleons at the end of the day for their hard work.
The Gardener Career branches out once players reach the fifth rank, and they can either choose Botanist or Floral Designer. The latter rewards Simmers with $350/hour, $2,100/day, or $10,500/week.
19 Detective
Weekly Pay: $10,600
Getting to play Detective is a fun experience in The Sims 4. Unlike the rabbit hole careers where Sims disappear for hours and return exhausted, players get to travel with their Sims and perform tasks to earn a promotion.
Upon getting promoted to Rank 10 and becoming Chief, Sims will be working eight hours for five days a week and earning $265/hour. This means players get to enjoy $2,120/day or $10,600/week.
18 Scientist
Weekly Pay: $11,115
The Scientist Career is part of the Get To Work Expansion Pack. Like the Doctor Career in The Sims 4, Simmers can go with their Sims to work and experience the life of a Scientist. Sims will start working as a Lab Technician and need to complete several daily tasks like Upgrade Inventions, Synthesize Serums, Practice Analysis, and so on.
Upon reaching rank 10, players will work five days a week for nine hours every day and get paid $247/hour. This means that Sims will get $2,223/day and $11,115/week. Unlike most of The Sims 4 Careers, Scientist doesn’t branch out once Simmers reach a certain rank.
17 Doctor
Weekly Pay: $11,200
The Doctor Career gives Sims the chance of saving other Sims’ lives by running tests on them, diagnosing the symptoms, and eventually performing surgery as players climb the ranks. Keep in mind that the working days and shifts will change with each rank.
Although it’s a demanding job since promotion is only available if Simmers actually went to the hospital and performed the required tasks during the 10 hours shift, the Doctor Career does offer a decent $11,200 at the end of the month. This means that Simmers are making $280/hour and $2,800/day.
16 Space Ranger (Astronaut)
Weekly Pay: $11,816
The Astronaut Career can be really fun, where players get to explore space and interact with The Sims 4 occults, Aliens. Leveling up the Logic and Fitness Skills is crucial in order to get a promotion. Like most Careers, The Astronaut Career splits into two branches when Simmers reach rank eight.
The two branches are Space Ranger and Interstellar Smuggler. By choosing the first one, at rank 10, Sims start working seven hours every four days for $422/hour, which translates to $2,954/day and $11,816/week. Keep in mind that the second branch, Interstellar Smuggler, offers better weekly pay.
15 Management (Business)
Weekly Pay: $12,000
The Business Career is the main objective of the Power Couple Scenario in The Sims 4. Other than Scenarios, players can really benefit from this Career in normal gameplay. Also, Promotional Tasks can easily be done, as Logic and Charisma Skills can be leveled up by doing everyday interactions.
Upon reaching level seven in the Business Career, there are two branches; Business Tycoon and Angel Investor. Choosing the former and getting promoted to level 10 rewards players with an eight-hour shift, four days a week. In other words, Sims will get paid $3,000/day or $12,000/week.
14 Boss (Criminal)
Weekly Pay: $12,460
The Criminal Career was released with the Base Game. Upon reaching rank six, players will have to select one of the two Career branches: Boss and Oracle. The Sim ends up being a leader of a gang and the second one is more into internet crimes like hacking.
Choosing the Boss branch will reward Simmers with $445/hour at level 10. This means that players can get up to $3,115/day and $12,460/week. On a side note, this Career requires Mischief Interactions. So, players should pick an Aspiration from the Criminal Category to get the Dastardly Trait.
13 Law (Private Attorney)
Weekly Pay: $12,600
As players know, some Careers branch out and the Sim is offered a promotion once they reach a certain rank. The Law Career offers two branches at rank seven; Judge and Private Attorney. The latter offers more Simoleons than the former.
By picking the Private Attorney branch and getting promoted to the final rank, Preeminent Partner, players will get $450/hour and $3150/week. So, at the end of the month, a considerable $12,600 is rewarded. Keep in mind that Private Attorneys do need to level up their Charisma Skills to draw in more customers.
Weekly Pay: $12,684
Unlike most Careers in The Sims 4, Social Media branches out quite early in the ranks, forcing players to choose between two paths. While the Internet Personality branch does offer a decent amount of Simoleons, the Public Relations reward more money.
Reaching the final rank in this branch is essential to reach the Spin Doctor rank in Public Relations. So, leveling up Writing and Charisma will lead to getting paid $453/hour which means $3,171/week or a whopping $12,684/month.
11 Diamond Agent (Secret Agent)
Weekly Pay: $12,780
The Secret Agent is another Base Game Career. Surprisingly, one of its branches has 11 ranks instead of the usual 10. Like most of The Sims 4 Careers, the Secret Agent has two branches: Diamond Agent and Villain. Both will start with Browsing intelligence as their Daily Task.
Once players reach the last rank of the first branch, the Sim will work a 15-hour shift three days a week. Simmers will make $284/hour, which is $4,260/day or $12,780/week. Having high Charisma and Logic Skills will help immensely in the Diamond Agent branch.
10 Villain (Secret Agent)
Weekly Pay: $12,875
The Secret Agent Career is one of the few Careers that has two branches with good pay. The Diamond Agent was mentioned before. Now it’s time to talk about the Villain branch. As its name shows, this branch is for players that are into mischief.
Getting promoted requires leveling up the Logic and Mischief Skills, which can be done by doing Mischievous Interactions with other Sims. Reaching rank 11 will reward players with a $515/hour, $2,575/day, or $12,875/week salary. They’ll work a five-hour shift, five days a week. This branch offers more money and its shift is a lot shorter than the Diamond Agent one.
9 Investor (Business)
Weekly Pay: $12,992
Some consider the Business Career to be boring since Sims are mostly filling out reports or making business calls. However, it does sometimes come in handy when players research stocks, then invest in them to make some extra Simoleons. Once Sims are at level seven of this Career, they’ll face two branches: Investor and Management.
When Simmers reach level 10 in the Investor branch, their Sim will become an Angel Investor and work four days a week for eight hours. They’ll get paid $406/hour, which translates to $3,248/day or $12,992/week.
8 Trend Setter (Style Influencer)
Weekly Pay: $13,530
Both branches of the Style Influencer have a decent salary compared to the rest of the Careers: Trend Setter is one of them. Players will be able to choose one when they reach level five in the Style Influencer Career. This branch is perfect for Simmers who like inventing different clothing styles.
When Simmers max the Trend Setter branch, they’ll start getting $451/hour. That means that they are getting $2,706/day or $13,530/week, which is honestly impressive for a work-from-home Career. Although it is from home, there is a schedule; a six-hour shift for five days a week.
7 The Relationship Counselor (Romance Consultant)
Weekly Pay: $13,825
If Simmers advance in the Romance Consultant Career and reach level eight, they can choose the Relationship Counselor branch. Essentially, it’s to help an angry or sad couple rekindle their romance by solving the problem from its roots. As it’s a rabbit hole Career, players only need to send their Sims to work and increase the necessary Skills in The Sims 4 to earn a promotion.
After leveling up Logic and Romance Skills consistently, Simmers should reach level 10 Relationship Counselor eventually. Players will receive $395/hour while working for seven hours over five days. This means that you earn $2765/day or $13,825/week.
6 Civic Planner (Civil Designer)
Weekly Pay: $14,000
The Civil Designer Career is part of the Eco Lifestyle Expansion Pack. If players are into making plans to change their neighborhood to become more eco-friendly or love the idea of recycling and fabrication, this Career is for them. It has two branches: Civic Planner and Green Technician.
At rank 10, The Civic Planner Simmers will get $350/hour, which means $3,500/day or $14,000/week. The Sim will work as a City Master Planner four days a week with a 10-hour shift. The Sim will be gone most of the day because it’s a long shift, so keep that in mind.
