Hogwarts heritage was a huge critical and commercial success, so it should come as no surprise that parent company Warner Bros. wants to move forward with the sequel. However, fans may be surprised to see the growing evidence Hogwarts Legacy 2 maybe jump into the MMORPG world.
Previous job offers have used the potential for a Hogwarts heritage sequel to become a live service game, with career requirements such as “knowledge of the wizarding world” overlapping with the need for experience running the game as a service. While there's no official confirmation, repeated job postings from Avalanche have mentioned a new “Multiplayer Online RPG,” including brand new posts that again share similarities with hiring descriptions that directly reference the wizarding world.
Will Hogwarts Legacy 2 be an MMORPG?
The Designer job, Narrative Systems, and the Lead Designer, World join other career positions that could give players a new perspective on potential. Hogwarts heritage MMORPG. The Designer, Narrative Systems description mentions the need for the applicant to be able to “create within an established franchise” and have a “deep literacy” in film and literature, plus a “love of fantasy.” Despite being directly named “an established franchise”, it can be assumed that this particular position will be working on a new project for an existing IP and not an entirely original game. On the other hand, the requirements for a lead designer in a world include knowledge of “open-world gameplay…[and] progression/reward systems' along with 'Live Service Games' experiences for 'Multiplayer Online RPGs'.
For designers, it's worth noting that the Narrative Systems job details are frequent requests for expertise with “interactive storytelling” and “story selection” that happen to be strikingly similar to an older career post that suggests Hogwarts Legacy 2 may have branching stories. There is always the possibility that these new posts are unrelated and not even for a Hogwarts heritage sequel, but many find it unlikely that the same development team would be working on more than one online multiplayer RPG at the same time, and that the jobs would just happen to involve an established fantasy franchise that includes both film and literature.
