What are wooden planks for?

Wooden planks are an advanced crafting material Veiled which players will need to progress. Not everything can be made from raw wood alone, and if you want to make better buildings and fancy equipment, you'll need Wood Planks in bulk.

Unlike basic Veiled materials like wood and stone, getting wooden planks will take time. There's a list of things that need to be done before you start crafting crafting, so here's a guide that covers all the necessary steps you need to take to get started.

How to make wooden planks covered

Wooden planks are made on a table saw using wooden logs. Each log will create two Wooden Planks and the process takes about a minute to complete. Getting wooden logs is easy, but if you haven't made much progress in the game, then getting a table saw will be a challenge.

To get the table saw you need to find and free the Carpenter Veiled. He is one of the NPCs you can summon to your base. You can find the Carpenter's Vault just east of the Cinder Vaultstarting point of the game. Before you get there, you'll want to get a Grappling Hook and Glider for passage, and a boosted Flame at the Flame Altar to survive the higher level Shroud areas.

Once Carpenter is free, you will need to do a short quest for him to unlock the recipe for the table saw. In this quest, he will ask you to find a circular saw in a place called Thornhold. You can find it southeast of Revelwood Ancient Spirealthough it should also be marked on your map for easy navigation.

Thornhold and its surrounding areas are home to Scavengers who are level 13. With that in mind, getting better gear for your class and leveling up is highly recommended. Veiled before you go there.

Wooden planks are mainly used for crafting stations, furniture and building materials. Some important furniture and crafting stations that need Wood Planks are:

Hand Spindle (Hunter): It is used to make better strings.
Bricklayer's tools (carpenter): Expands the carpentry possibilities of creation.
Alchemy Station (Alchemist): Used to craft alchemy goods and tools.

These three items alone will unlock a lot of new crafting recipes. Plus, if you're a builder looking for some new blocks to play with, Wood Planks are also needed for Refined Wood Blocks, which are a cut above regular rough wood blocks aesthetically.
