Throughout the game world in Obsidian Interactive's Groundedplayers will find a variety of powerful items to craft, including unique weapon and armor sets, resulting in a variety of unique builds to suit every possible playstyle. Fire Ant Armor figures are some of the most powerful pieces of equipment in the game, but also some of the hardest to obtain. When equipped, they grant players 20% damage reduction, +10 defense, and 5% resistance. The armor is particularly powerful due to its corrosive effects, giving players several unique acid effects when attacking in the armor.
How to unlock Fire Ant armor recipes
Like most unique weapons and armor Groundedplayers can craft a set of Fire Ant Armor on a workbench that can be placed anywhere. However, a desk alone is not enough. First, players will need to unlock the recipe for each part. This can be achieved by taking the unique components of the item and Their analysis on a research base.
Each item of equipment has its own required material that must be analyzed in order to unlock the crafting of the item. The Fire Ant Helmet will require an analysis of the Fire Ant's head, the Chest will require mandibles, and in the case of the leg plates, a simple Fire Ant part. Once each tile is analyzed, players will be able to craft each item once they gather the necessary crafting materials.
How to make fire ant armor
Each piece of armor will need to be constructed separately, and the requirements vary slightly for different pieces of armor. Once the materials have been collected and analyzed, simply head to the base workbench and the items will appear available for crafting. The list of crafting materials for each armor set item is as follows:
- Fire Ant Helmet – 1x fire ant head, 2x fire ant part, 2x rope.
- Fire ant – 2x fire ant part, 1x fire ant mandible, 2x rope.
- Fire Ant Legplates – 2x Fire Ant Part, 1x Dust Mite Fuzz, 2x Lint Rope.
Each piece can be crafted separately, so it is not necessary to collect all materials to craft all items if you only want to craft a helmet, for example. A significant amount of travel and preparation may be required, as the areas where players will need to go to obtain materials for crafting are particularly dangerous.
Where to find fire ant armor crafting materials
It goes without saying that for the most part players will need to find and defeat Fire Ants; however, there are some specifics to be aware of when hunting these materials. Fire Ant Workers drop either Fire Ant Parts or Fire Ant Heads, while Fire Ant Mandibles must be taken from a stronger, soldier ant.
The best place to find both variants is to head to the Fire Ant nest, but beware that this is one of the hardest areas in the game to survive. In addition to these materials, Dust Mite Fuzz can also be found by exterminating mites from the underside of the shed. Lint Rope can also usually be found on mats and shed insulation.
