How to use Spirit Box effectively

If you've ever wanted to try your hand at being a paranormal investigator, Phasmophobia is your chance. He stepped into the skin of ghost hunters, Phasmophobia will test your ghost hunting and survival skills in haunted locations where you don't just hunt ghosts – they can hunt you. Fortunately, you have plenty of ghost hunting gear to choose from to help you complete mission objectives and find evidence of the paranormal. One device that may leave you scratching your head is the Spirit Box, a device that you can use to communicate with spirits in Phasmophobia.

While the game's tutorial guides you through the basics, learning how to use Spirit Box it can take some time to get used to – especially if you're starting out as a new player or trying out the game for the first time on consoles. For some types of spirits in phasmophobia, you can use the Spirit Box as evidence, so it's a handy piece of kit to get used to and upgrade as soon as possible. There are also a few different ways you can use the Spirit Box, depending on your preferred entry method. This manual focuses primarily on usage Level 1 Spirit Boxwhich some players may find difficult to use.

How to use Spirit Box in Phasmophobia

When entering a haunted house or other building, the first thing you need to do is find the ghost room. While other starter devices in Phasmophobia is preferable for this purpose, such as an EMF Reader, you may need a Spirit Box to gather evidence of the presence of a spirit by trying to get a response from the spirit. To use Spirit Box v Phasmophobiafirst you have to grab it from the delivery – or go through your inventory if you already have it equipped, which is a basic level 1 ghost box to start with.

With the Spirit Box selected, press Use button on turn on its powerwhich will light up the red power light on the left side and cause the Spirit Box to be on all the time make white noise as it cycles through the frequencies. Depending on your setup, you can then issue a text or voice chat and ask the spirit questions through the Spirit Box, as detailed below:

If you are using entering text for the Spirit Boxsimply power up the Spirit Box with the Apply button and select one of the following options on-screen text dialog options try to communicate with the spirit:

• are you friendly
• where are you
• How old are you?

The spirit may or may not respond according to the possible responses detailed later in this guide, and it also depends on whether they are conditions were met. For example, while you can still have a flashlight equipped and on, you must turn off all the lights in the room for the best chance of success and use it when standing near evidence of paranormal activity or the ghost itself, like cold breath, in the same room as the ghost. If you use a Level 1 Spirit Box, you must be very close to the spirit (up to three meters) to get an answer. You can also try using the Spirit Box after using another detection device first, e.g shown in the video belowwho demonstrates hearing spirits but not responding to a Tier 1 Spirit Box after several EMF readings:

Some ghosts only react to the player under certain conditions, such as
players who are alone
so it's worth checking these conditions on the delivery destination board before taking the Spirit Box with you. However, some ghosts will talk to all players.

Spirit Box Voice Chat

You can also use voice chat through a headphones or by using push-to-talk try to get a response from the spirit through the Spirit Box. The game allows you to ask questions of the ghosts inside four categories:

• Age – questions like: how young are you?
• Difficulty – questions like: what do you want and are you angry?
• Location – questions like: where are you and are you in this room?
• Personal – questions like: what's your name?

Spirit Box Answers

While it might seem like nothing is happening at times, which is a possibility, watch the far right The color of the indicator light on the Spirit Box — this can signal different reactions:

• If the indicator at the 1st level Spirit Box flashes whiteit means you have picked up a response from the spirit and you should hear voice-like sounds via radio frequencies. Of course, the sounds will vary depending on what spirit is haunting the area.
• If the indicator on the 1st level Spirit Box flashes redthe game (and thus the ghost) hears you but doesn't respond.
• If nothing is happeningit is possible that Spirit Box did not register your question. If you're using a headset, make sure the left indicator light is white, as this means the Spirit Box is picking up your voice.
