LEGO games have worn several different faces over the past few decades. 1997 LEGO island was an incredibly ambitious open-world adventure game, LEGO Creator was an early sandbox builder, LEGO racers was a Mario Kart clone a LEGOLAND was an amusement park tycoon sim. But then it came LEGO Star Wars in 2005, the title that changed LEGO games forever and laid the first stones on the path that eventually led to LEGO Horizon Adventures.
Horizon is quickly becoming one of the most versatile first-party PlayStation IPs and LEGO Horizon Adventures is a perfect example of that. LEGO Horizon Adventures is set to give the series a lighter, more family-friendly makeover, all while maintaining the series' distinct aesthetic and staying true to its story and lore. on the surface LEGO Horizon Adventures looks like a typical LEGO adventure game, but some key differences set it apart from items like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

At first sight LEGO Horizon Adventures and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga both look like similar LEGO projects. Categorized as action-adventure titles, both games target a younger audience, are based on major franchises with pre-set characters, and feature LEGO's signature art style that adds dice and a distinct sense of magic to an otherwise realistic world. But if you dig just one layer deeper, fans will find out LEGO Horizon Adventures and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga are actually two very different games.
LEGO Horizon Adventures seems to take a different approach to the usual LEGO formula
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was a bold evolution of the LEGO Traveller's Tales gameplay formula, taking the foundations that had been continuously built upon since 2005. LEGO Star Warsand exponentially expanding in its scale. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga adapted all nine major lines Star Wars movies that deliver the same action, puzzles and platforming that fans have come to expect. These missions were accompanied by over 20 explorable planets, each packed to the brim with side content.
LEGO Horizon Adventureson the other hand, it takes a slightly different approach to the usual LEGO gameplay formula. While The Skywalker Saga decided to go as far as possible in terms of missions, side content, collectibles and playable characters, LEGO Horizon Adventures it seems to deliver a much more succinct experience. Rather than adapt nine feature films, LEGO Horizon Adventures retells the story Horizon Zero Dawnwith plenty of his own original moments of charm thrown in for good measure. And while players will still be able to collect new outfits and structures for their central world, LEGO Horizon Adventures it probably won't contain more than 1,000 collectibles to find across its levels.
While LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga set a new bar for licensed LEGO games with its larger scale, it was also criticized for having too much filler. LEGO Horizon Adventures it may not offer over 80 hours of content, but it can deliver a more refined and concise experience that's a little easier for fans to enjoy.
