The first step to getting Honey in Luma Island is build a hive and place it on your farm. The beehive blueprint can be purchased from the drawing shop in town for 2500 gold coins and you need the following materials to build it:

  • 10 Mountain sap
  • 10 mountain boards
  • 10 mountain flowers
  • 1 Queen Bee

As you can see, you need to get to the Mountain and get most of the beehive materials from this biome before you can start generating Honey. Mountain Sap can be found by cutting down sap trees and branches in the biome, while flowers can be found scattered throughout the area on the ground. They are white, so when you get to the snowy areas of the Mountain, be aware that they can be difficult to spot. Planks can be made from mountain wood in a sawmill.

However, Queen Bee is an interesting requirement that you don't necessarily need to look for. They appear randomly around the farm and forest and you have to catch them using a net. It's similar to how river and ocean creatures will appear, except they'll probably wind their way across the ground and through the trees. So keep an eye out for them when exploring and grab them as soon as you can.

Once you build your hive, you can place it on your farm near crops that need hives and the bees inside will start generating honey. About once a day you can check your hive and you will find dropped honey nearby.

If you have chosen the Brewer or Cook profession, then you will know that bees are necessary if you want to grow and successfully grow certain crops, such as pumpkins and cocoa beans. Similar to Sprinklers, when you place your Beehive you will see a large blue square around it. This square shows which plants your bees will pollinate, so make sure your pumpkin and cacao seeds fall within this square so the bees can get to work.

If you haven't taken the Brewer or Cook professions, then you will need to unlock these crops through those professions. Recipes that require bee-pollinated crops aren't unlocked until the third stage of the quest line, but if you're already advanced enough in another profession, it shouldn't take too long to reach the point you're at. buying pumpkin and cocoa seeds Luma Island.
