Number of roguelike games on Steam it's too high to count, but every now and then a real gem pops up on the platform. For every favorite Steam roguelike like Hades 2, Slay the Spire 2and Mewgenics that have seen huge success recently, there are hundreds more that fly under the radar of gamers. However, the upcoming indie roguelike Sin & Siege is sold on a unique premise that turns out to be the opposite of what Hades 2 offers players.
Although most roguelikes on Steam are indeed “rogue-lites” by definition, the genre shares commonalities such as the need to play multiple runs, saving some type of energy between runs, and leveling up after each run to give yourself a better chance of success on the next one. Game like Hades 2 players descend through several zones to reach the House of Hades, fighting bosses that protect it along the way. Sin & Siege takes a different approach to a similar premise, tasking players with protecting Hell from an onslaught of monsters and having to rebuild structures and defenses every time they fail.

Sin & Siege charges players with protecting and restoring Hell, rather than infiltrating it
City-sim meets the driving simulator as Sin & Siege is a rarer breed of roguelite than other offerings on Steam. Compared to an action roguelite Hades 2 or as a roguelite deck builder Slay the Spire 2, Sin & Siege puts a unique spin on the genre by requiring players to manage their defenses against incoming attacks. If they fail, players will have to rebuild the hell circles of hell, giving players almost endless opportunities to refine their strategy and hone their game skills in city simulations and towers.
The story of Sin & Siege
IN Sin & Siegeplayers take on the role of Hell's Architect and Warden, who must prevent the Heart of Darkness from being destroyed by the Power of Light. A game where demons are allies and angels are enemies is nothing new; and Bayonetta the series features angelic enemies and Diablo it even forces the player to fight the High Heavens from time to time. But when players actually protect Hell itself from angelic forces, it creates a unique premise that supports it Sin & Siegegameplay.
Sin & Siege it does not have a planned release date at this time.
The Gameplay of Sin & Siege
Sin & Siege it's about cycles and growth, improving Hell's defenses with each run. Basic game loop Sin & Siege begins with expanding the player's resource pool by harvesting sins and using them to build structures to protect the Heart of Darkness from the incoming forces of light. Creating more demon cannons will also help improve the function of the infernal device and strengthen the defenses as players prepare their tower defense strategy for the incoming attack. Players will also have to contend with different circles of hell, each acting as a different layer of the map with their own unique properties that can make or break the player's defenses.

The Seven Deadly Sins play a major role Sin & Siege's gameplay, with each controlling a different aspect of the game's control loop. For example, Laziness controls agriculture, factories, and quarries, while Lust controls demon breeding, allowing players to raise an army of demonic soldiers to fight for them. Harvesting souls of a specific sin provides synergy for specific quests associated with the seven deadly sins, such as gluttons increasing farm productivity, sort of a twisted version Stardew ValleyJunimo Helpers. Permanent upgrades to these seven deadly sins between runs will help make the next run a little smoother, so players can't neglect this mechanic.
How Sin & Siege turns the premise of Hades 2 on its head
The ultimate goal Sin & Siege not just to survive the onslaught of the Forces of Light, but to rebuild Hell into a well-oiled machine of pain and suffering. Although both games place a heavy emphasis on the underworld of their respective mythologies, Sin & Siege takes almost the opposite attitude towards Hell as Hades 2. IN Hades 2each Melinoe's run to Tartarus to reach the House of Hades requires players to defeat first Hades 2 bosses of each previous region: Erebus, Oceanus, and Fields of Mourning.
in contrast Sin & Siege essentially puts the player in the role of those regional bosses, with the different circles of hell acting as different regions to defend. Action gameplay Hades 2 can be a drastic departure from the city building and tower defense game Sin & Siegebut it is clear that the two roguelites are mirrors of each other. For the fans Hades 2 who want to see what it would be like to play from the opposite perspective, Sin & Siege maybe worth keeping track of.
