Sega surprised a lot Sonic the Hedgehog fans at The Game Awards 2024, with a brand new racing title confirmed for release in 2025. Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has been on fire for the past few years, between the success of Paramount's live-action films and a string of successful releases such as Sonic Frontiers and Sonic X Shadow Generations. 2024 in particular was an incredible year for Shadow the Hedgehog as he became a star Sonic the Hedgehog 3as well as his own story campaign in Shadow generations.

Rumors swirling about the next step in the Sonic the Hedgehog series may mean that the old adventure will be getting a new coat of paint very soon.

Therefore, some fans believe that this game will feature a hybrid Sonic Racing and Sonic Riders' game styles where you have the option of driving a car or a hoverboard during a race.
