New Ethereal Models in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
Ethereals are energy beings from the world of K'aresh who, after losing their physical forms in a mysterious cataclysm, bound their essence in bandages, giving them a mummy-like appearance. There are many factions of allied and hostile Ethereals that fans have encountered over the years, but the new models seem to have a shadow-infused variety, much like the Locus-Walker – Alleria Windrunner's mysterious ally and mentor in mastering the Void in WoW.
While there was no indication that these new Ethereal models could be for an unannounced allied race, that didn't stop players from speculating. The variety of models could easily translate to character creation options, and the race also has a lot of investment in the Worldsoul Saga – Xal'atath was involved in the destruction of their home world, and their trade-oriented society has a lot in common with the Goblins of Undermine.
