Overwatch exploration reveals amazing new skin concepts

Overwatch revealed plenty of new skins through recent surveys, with concepts ranging from Battle Sharks and Island Party to Hell Bikers and Animal Gangsters. While there is no guarantee that any of these appearances will become real, there is a chance Overwatch they might turn them into official cosmetics at some point in the future.

Every few months, Overwatch sends out surveys to select fans that include concept art for potential hero skins. Occasionally, these skins actually make it into the game itself, such as the Spring Fairy and Court of Roses v Overwatch Reign of Talon Season 2 first appeared in February 2025 polls.

While Overwatch knocked it out of the park with its new Diablo 4 cosmetics, the fantasy genre contains an even more suitable crossover opportunity.

New Overwatch skin concepts from May 2026

Now, Overwatch sent out another survey full of 39 skin concepts. Collected and shared on Reddit by a user Overwatch player Himedanshi999, these skins are spread across 10 amazing themes. Fans of ocean games will love it Subnautica 2 you'll especially enjoy the Battle Sharks, Abyss, and Island Party skins, while Demo-Punk, Animal Gangsters, and Hell Bikers are perfect for players with more alternative tastes.

While many of the usual suspects appear – Kiriko and Wuyang each have two, Freya three and Juno four – the spread of heroes is actually much better than most other explorations. Indeed, Mercy, the hero with the most skins Overwatchsurprisingly does not appear at all in these terms. Instead, unusual characters like Brigitte, Hazard, Mauga, and Mei will get a chance to shine alongside newer heroes like Emre, Mizuki, Anran, Domina, Jetpack Cat, and Vendetta.

When could Overwatch release these skins?

Skin surveys for Overwatch they started in December 2023 and appear roughly three times a year, making this the ninth. About half of the subjects from the first five of these polls saw one or more of their concept skins make it into the game, including the Norwegian Season 14 skins, the Demon Rocker skins from Season 16, and the Pool Party skins from Season 18. However, not all skins from a given theme sometimes make it into the game, while other heroes also don't appear in the game instead.

Regardless, survey appearances usually don't take less than a year to appear Overwatch. For example, none of the skins seen in Overwatch surveys from January 2026, September 2025, or April 2025 still come into play. This means that the latest ones could be seen by the first fans Overwatch skin drafts will be next year, probably no sooner than Season 2 or 3 of whatever story awaits players in 2027. Either way, players should be sure to let Blizzard know which skins they like the most if they happen, so the poll increases the chances of their top picks eventually appearing in the game.
