Pokemon's Cubone has a uniquely sad origin story Pokemon games. Cubone is said to carry his deceased mother's skull and carry her femur as his makeshift bone club. Pokemon fan turns Squirtle into a knight
A Pokemon fan shared an illustration of Squirtle dressed as a knight, and the community took the opportunity to rename the new adventurer.
Cubone's origin story makes it the perfect choice to dress up as God of Waris Kratos. Reddit user and artist BenEEmoon shared a 3D animation of Cubone as Kratos, with the Pokemon wielding the iconic Blades of Chaos, complete with chains wrapped around his wrists. Although Cubone doesn't do anything in the animation other than breathe, this is an excellent rendition of Cubone as Kratos, with the Pokemon sporting the iconic red markings on both its skull and body. The glow of the swords is particularly effective in selling the scene, so it's easy to imagine Cubone rushing into battle after this brief pause.
Pokemon and God of War fans praise the Mash-Up
Fans are quite appreciative of the artwork in the comments, with many noting how appropriate the mush is. Kratos' story involves the accidental slaughter of his own family, after which he becomes cursed to carry their ashes on his body, creating the pale appearance he is partially known for. Fans have suggested that in this case Cubone may have accidentally murdered her own mother and is now cursed to carry her skull all the time. Other players have pointed out that this mash-up would work even better if this particular Kratos Cubone evolved into an Alolan Marowak. Unlike the original Marowak, the Alolan Marowak transitions to a Fire/Ghost type, which would be perfect given Kratos' title as Ghost of Sparta.
While Pokemon has never directly crossed over with third-party non-Nintendo game series like this one, it's a fun combination to think about. Even outside of the potential crossover with God of Warplayers have been considering the idea of a Pokemon action game similar to that of God of War. There's no such thing at the moment, but it could be an interesting twist on the series, and somewhat believable since it's already entered the realm of fighting games with Super Smash Bros. and Pokken tournament. Many fans would probably enjoy the opportunity to play an action game as their favorite Pokemon rather than simply command them as a Pokemon trainer with how the main game series works.
