PS5 is officially becoming one of the best games of 2026

PlayStation 5 gamers have been well fed this year in terms of new game releases and now they can look forward to another highly rated game. The PlayStation 5 has been a massive sales success for Sony, and with such a large install base, it's really no surprise that the vast majority of games are released on this platform.

Most of the major cross-platform games were released on PS5 in 2026, with a rare exception here and there. 2026 also saw the release of some PS5 exclusives that earned strong reviews, such as Nioh 3. Saros is a pure PS5 exclusive that has made its way into the top 10 rated games of the year, earning an impressive overall rating of 87. The top rated games list is likely to change dramatically as more titles are released later this year, but one game currently in the top 20 is now confirmed to debut on PS5.

OPUS: Prism Peak will be released on PS5 sometime later this year. A specific release date has yet to be confirmed, but more information on this queue should be coming sooner rather than later. OPUS: Prism Peak was a hit with critics when it came out for PC and Nintendo Switch earlier this year, earning an overall rating of 86. Time will tell if OPUS: Prism Peak remains in the top 20 throughout the year, but it's off to an incredible start and should be an exciting release for PS5 players.

For those who don't know the game, OPUS: Prism Peak is an artistic narrative game where players assume the role of a photographer traveling through a mysterious realm with an amnesiac girl. The game earned high praise for its story and anime-inspired art style, and while it may not be everyone's cup of tea, those it resonated with praised it. And it's not just professional critics who don't like it OPUS: Prism Peak. The game has a user rating of 8.2 on Metacritic and has “very positive” reviews on Steam.

When OPUS: Prism Peak coming to PS5 later this year will give players on that platform a chance to play another of the best of 2026. The two games that break 90+ on Metacritic this year will also be playable on PS5 if they aren't already there.
