Jez Corden is a household name at this point. At least, if your household happens to include at least one gaming enthusiast who keeps up with industry news remotely. He clearly has connections in high places, so when he joins the anticipation of upcoming game announcements and release dates, it's generally worth tuning in.
Today, Corden stated — note that this is more of an informed prediction than an outright statement — that we could see at least one Fallout remaster in 2027. Plus, to no one's surprise, The Elder Scrolls is still years away. But how many years? You can be at this moment pleasantly shocked by his thoughts on that score.
I could honestly imagine worse
Just around the two-hour mark on the latest episode of The Xbox Two Podcast, co-hosts Rand al Thor 19 (probably not the real Rand al'Thor, unfortunately) and Jez Corden talked about the state of things to come at Bethesda Game Studios. Here, Corden says he's heard some things — though he's not sure how true they are.
“I heard it like, I don't know how true it is, but I heard one thing [the] Fallout remasters are probably a little further along than people think, and Elder Scrolls 6 is still quite a ways away. I guess getting some of these games out faster is probably something that they think is most important to them.” -Jez Corden
It's half-guess, half-leak in itself, because Corden can't be sure that our whispers he's tuned in to are accurate. However, things got a little more interesting moments later.
Rand notes that he didn't expect any of the Fallout remake rumors until next year. Corden gives some probability based data in his answer to them, just like The Elder Scrolls 6.
“Yeah, that's what I'm thinking: 2027 maybe for the Fallout remake, at least one of them, and then probably the year after that or the year after that for [Elder Scrolls 6].”
A remake of Fallout 3 in 2027 is fun enough for me. The big bomb drop is of course TES 6. If Corden's calculation turns out to be correct, then a release date of 2028-29 for the first entry to the mainline since 2011's Skyrim? At this point I have to admit it doesn't really sound like it that already bad. Two to three years is the best I dared to hope for. The internet is saturated with depressed fan expectations for something like 2031, so I'll take what I can get.
