SBS' new Oda officially confirms Franky's father

This article contains spoilers for the One Piece series.

With the release of each new one One piece volume, fans await an exciting reveal SBS Eiichiro Oda Section. SBS is additional content included in each volume created by Oda One piecehe answers questions sent to him by fans. Some of these questions are just jokes and don't offer much insight, but others may represent major lore or information they reveal. Latest SBS definitely delivered, just right confirmed one of the biggest One piece theory around.

Previously hinted at in the Vivre Card a while back, it's now official Queen the Plague is the father of the Straw Hat Pirate Franky. Queen is a man who left Franky a long time agoas seen in Water 7, and it's definitely a shame for many fans that the two never met in Wano.

Oda officially confirms that the Queen is Franky's father in SBS volume 113

Franky's modified appearance after the timeskip - One Piece

  • Vivre cards hinted at that

  • The latest SBS Oda confirms this

More than a year ago, in September 2024, a new batch of Vivre cards dropped. Fans quickly skimmed through them in search of any big reveal about the show, and sure enough, the Oda editors left a huge hint in there. Although not explicitly stated, Vivre Cards hinted that Queen from Beast Pirates is Franky's father.

Their connection was quite obvious through the given data. Vivre cards said the Queen had a child 36 years agoand that when the boy was 10, the Queen left him to sail with Kaido. This fits perfectly with the events that took place with Franky. Franky is 36 years old in the storyand was found by Tom at 10

The Serpent Queen Restraining Sanji - One Piece

Although it is quite obvious, it was all just a theory for a year. But with the release of the new SBS, Oda confirms that theory to be true.

Reader: Odacchi, Heso! Are Franky and Queen father and son?

Oda: Eh…..! Oh no… they noticed! They must have seen in the One Piece Encyclopedia – Vivre Card that the birth year of the Queen's child matches the year Franky was born! And the year Queen abandoned his child coincides with the year Tom took Franky!! Readers knowing something the characters themselves don't would be weird… I'm going to have to bluff my way through this one…

N… nyo are… nyot…!!!

Vivre cards are not a trusted source of information

Katakuri One Piece

  • Oda does not write them himself

  • Vivre cards are often bad

The Vivre cards were indeed right about the data regarding Franky and Queen this time, because Franky actually turned out to be the Queen's child. With that being said, Vivre cards cannot be blindly trusted.

Vivre cards are often faulty about facts not mentioned in the manga. After all, they are not written or overseen by Oda, but by his editors. Its editors can set things straight, but sometimes they just don't know.

luffy vs. Katakuri 4

A huge bug that recently came to light from Vivre cards had to do with Katakuri. In the Vivre cards, it was stated that Katakuri ate his Devil Fruit at the age of 5. However, it was revealed in God Valley that At the age of 8, Katakuri had yet to eat his devil fruitand Big Mom actually planned to feed him Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu. Information from Vivre cards should be taken with a grain of salt.
