Like the original Outer Worlds and many other contemporary RPGs, Outer worlds 2 it is full of nice and sometimes confrontational companions. They add a lot of variety to the experience, but they also have their own personal issues to deal with. Aza most of all.
At this point you will know that Aza is not strictly stable. Glorious Dawn is such a massive part of her life, and its leadership has now decided that Aza must die. To her, of course. All of this is some serious mistake. The result of a traitor within the cult. And so he wants you to get to the bottom of it all.
How to get Stab on Shadows Quest
Starting the Stabbing At Shadows quest can be a bit complicated. It's a clear assumption that it is you must have already completed Aza's previous side quest, The Dawn Of A Glorious Betrayal. There, he learns that the order to kill her supposedly came from the leader of the Glorious Dawn, which he simply does not believe. She is the only one Leader Dagmar talks to.
So once this quest is completed, you should naturally come across it while traveling with Aza in a group. At some point, she should simply approach you and ask for your help and activate the quest. When she's ready to offer you a quest, which will most likely happen, a bubble will appear above her head after you got Rift Modulator on Praetor.
If for some reason she doesn't approach you herself to offer this quest, you can force activate it yourself by bringing it to any of the Glorious Dawn camps in the game. Since you'll need to visit these camps anyway to progress the quest, we'll cover them in a bit more detail below.
Which famous Dawn camps should you explore?
When Aza offers you this quest, she says she needs to connect with her friend in Glorious Dawn, Severin. He should know who ordered her killing and logically tried to get to her. So he needs you find a camp where he could leave a message. And there are quite a few of them, spread over both the Cloister and the Praetor.
As you may recall in Aza's previous side quest, you used the Glorious Dawn's comms to reveal the location of the man who led the cultists who kidnapped Aza. We look for the same kind of facilities in the campsites that Aza offers you.
Aza offers you a list placement on both the Praetor and the Cloister of the various Glorious Dawn camps he knows about, but only one of them will be the right one for the communication device you're looking for. The right camp for us was the one on Praetor, directly opposite the central controlwest.
Aim and interact with the communication device for Azu to get a message from Severin. Just as she suspected, he left a note for her, albeit without any other critical information meet him at the Monastery. It makes sense, after all no one is going to divulge critical information over an open line.
There should also be a rift that you can open with the Rift Modulator. Do so find some unique weapons that will appear from the rift, but be careful as apparitions of Glorious Dawn cultists may also appear from it to kill you.
Meeting with Severin
Head to the Cloister now. If you haven't been here before, you will have to travel quite a distance to reach Severin as it's not really near any fast travel areas. Again, it makes sense for the cultist to be separate from all the main areas. He should be hiding around the ice dunes.
However, when you meet Severin, he seems to be on edge. Note that Aza said he was the most trustworthy, not that he was particularly trustworthy overall. Severin reveals that Exalted Leader Dagmar told him directly. Aza should have been killed. This infuriates Aza, as she is the only one Dagmar was supposed to talk to. And he wants Severin to suffer because of it.
Now Aza, as you have learned, is quite bloodthirsty. So if you want to get her to back down from killing Severin, you'll have to go through a Speech check from 11. Otherwise, Severin and all the protectorate guards he brought with him must die.
After you've dealt with Severin, Aza now needs to deal with a later important revelation – her noble leader, Dagmar, is working with the Protectorate. Aza needs answers, and if she's not satisfied with them, she's more than willing to take Dagmar down as well. So with that, Aza says you should return to central control on the Praetor. If you have information anywhere about Dagmar's dealings with the Protectorate, it's there.
Searching for Dagmar
Searching for a central control station
So we go back to the Praetor. If you've already completed some of Tristan's side quests, then you may have already gone through Central Control and thinned out his numbers. If not, you'll have to find your way inside. We will list a few of them below.
- Simply climb over the wall of containers to the left of the main entrance.
- Find a secret wall in the Tomb of the Matriarch that leads directly inside Central Control.
- Talk to the protectorate soldier at the entrance and pass a few skill checks to enter.
- Just rush in and kill everyone. This is not recommended.
There is a very powerful Bunker Automech in that it both hits hard and has extremely high HP. Unless you have a very high Hack Skill and equally strong shock weapons, we suggest you try to sneak around.
Inside, you want to enter the room to the right of the entrance, right by all the gathered soldiers and the Automech. There are other doors you can use on enter this building to its north where it is much less protected.
Once you get inside, communicate with the terminal there. Here you will find a message from Dagmar to the Protectorate consul detailing the kill order issued against Az. This makes it pretty definitive – Dagmar is connected to the Proectorate for some reason and sold Aza to keep it.
If you come here before this quest, the terminal is simply inactive.
After you finish reading the terminal, another monitor turns on, revealing Dagmar in decidedly Protectorate clothing. She turns out to be a Sentinel herselfand Glorious Dawn was created purely to convince the Sovereign that pursuing the Rift was folly, and to guide him back to proper leadership of the Protectorate. Of course, Aza doesn't care about any of this and vows to kill Dagmar for betraying her.
Dealing with Dagmar
For now, you must actually find Dagmar. Her office is located inside central control. Even if you've already killed all the enemies here, a few more will be introduced as part of this mission, so don't let your guard down.
Go down and find the soldiers ready around the corner. If you want to approach it stealthily, enter the nearby vent and exit into another room. Climb the containers in this room and enter the next set of vents, letting you immediately drop behind the soldiersallowing you to take them out easily.
Now the entrance to Dagmara's office. All the doors are locked so you have to find a secret entrance. Enter the nearby room to find a a small panel on the wall that you can removecrawling through more vents to finally enter her room and come face to face with Dagmar.
Of course, Aza wants to kill her. And if you haven't stopped her from killing someone else by now, it's going to be pretty hard to talk her out of it. However, you can still do this if you have a Speaking skills at least 17 points. Otherwise, you'll have to take down Dagmar.
If Dagmar dies, you can collect Aza's Advanced Mod Kit from her bodyor surrender her if she is allowed to live. If Aza kills Dagmar, Glorious Dawn will take over as its new leader. If Dagmar is alive and Aza refrains from murdering other cult members, you can also make her try to suppress her murderous ways.
