The Sims 4: Life & Death is overflowing with death, but it's also full of life. Go for it. Where Sims have lots of new things to do with death, life takes center stage in the form of lots of new NPCs.

This dress is to die for.
The people of Ravenwood are a mix of old and new. Some are classic characters returning to the series, others are newcomers, but all fit perfectly into Ravenwood's story. Meet these denizens of death right here, right now. These are the best NPCs in The Sims 4: Life & Death.
10 Radwan Gomes
Reborn Sim
On the surface, Radwan Gomes is just another Sim. He is a gentle family man who just wants to love his wife and be the best father he can be. Everything about it feels pretty average. But Radwan has vitality—almost as if he has more life than most.
Radwan Gomes is the very first Sim in the series to be reincarnated. Although we don't know anything about his past life, he has the Burning Soul trait to prove it. Radwan's calmness becomes more than coldness – it is a sign of the amazing journey his soul has traveled.
9 Tziporah Gomes
Death to life
Tziporah Gomes wasn't always the mild-mannered mother and writer. She used to be dead as a nail. Tziporah got her hands on some ambrosia and was able to rise from the dead.
As a former ghost, Tziporah is very focused on helping other ghosts come back to life. That positivity can be daunting, as her sister can tell you. Tziporah's main conflict is her failing relationship with her sister Esther, as Esther has no desire to return to life. Tziporah is a fascinating character as someone who has risen from the dead, and offers a plot point while dealing with her conflict with Esther.
8 Ekade Aether
The Patient Spook Husband
One of the main themes of the Life and Death expansion is grief and how Sims deal with it. Ekade Aether is a character who embodies coping with grief. Ekade's life, which is very normal in itself, is turned upside down by the death of his husband… and his husband has risen from the dead.

Most ghosts have unique effects and animations related to their cause of death. We'll look at all of them in this guide.
Although Kai is still around, Ekade tries to help her son Takamo overcome his grief. Many of his Ravenwood lore centers around him getting therapy for himself, Kai, and Takama. While the occult status of the spirits means that grief looks different to Sims, Ekade is the character to show how important it is for everyone to process grief.
7 Kai Aether
The Whole Being Dead Thing
Sims are notoriously fragile creatures. They can and will die. Kai Aether knows more about this than anyone else – or would if he didn't deny it. Kai Aether is a Sim who has met a terrible fate…and refuses to accept it.
Kai is a ghost who refuses to believe he is a ghost. He even puts up an angry sign in his yard telling the ghosts to stay away. In the end, though, Kai works to accept his new state of being for the sake of his family, and that's gratifying. Even the most stubborn spirits can change.
6 Edith
Seven days, Simmer
It wouldn't be a ghost-centric expansion without some ghosts running around. While most of the ghosts in Life and Death are as friendly as they were in life, one in particular has become a local menace. This is Edith, the haunted ghost from Crow's Crossing.
Edith is a tribute to the Ring's Sadako, a spirit famously trapped in a well. Edith is less murderous than Sadako, but she still terrifies any Sim who comes near her. Edith can befriend the bravest Sim and can even offer blessings to these brave souls – but still curse them.
5 Nyon Spectre
Nervous Subject Angsty Teen
An entire article could be written about the life and times of Nervous Subject, The Sims 2's favorite punching bag. Nervous Subject, originally introduced in Strangetown, was the Beakers' adopted test subject. However, digging into his memories would reveal that he had ties to one Olive Specter and… the Grim Reaper.

In this timeline, Nervous has never been taken away by social services. Nyon (as he is known here) is merely the sarcastic son of Olive and the Grim Reaper, as confirmed by twenty years of speculation. Nyon can be difficult to communicate with, but at least he's happy here – or as happy as a goth teenager can be.
4 Lady Ravendancer Goth
Founder of magic
It wouldn't be a Gothic expansion without a member of the Goth family. Lady Ravendancer Goth has been seen in the series before, most notably in items that can be purchased in the Sims 3 store. But this is her first “in the flesh” appearance in the franchise. Um, how in the body as a spirit can be, that is.
Lady Ravendancer is the founder of Ravenwood, although she herself would dispute that fact. She can be summoned by collecting all the cards in her tarot deck, which can be found scattered around Ravenwood. For those with Realm Of Magic installed, Lady Ravendancer is the first official Sim to have two occult states. Elegant!
3 Layne Coffin
Mr. Olive Specter
One of the hallmarks of Olive Specter's story is that she was married and then widowed to men with names associated with death. Earl E. DeMise, Hugh Thanasio's husband, Rigger Mortis – Olive dated them all. At first, it seems that Layne Coffin is just another target – a beloved fiancé.
As it turns out, Layne is more than just a notch in Olive's belt: he's downright wild. Layne is actually an evil Sim in disguise and wants to become a ghost. Olive is apparently going to 'help' him cross. It's rare that anyone can match Olive Specter's energy, but Layne can be it.
2 Alice
A wailing mother
Not every haunting is happy. Ghost stories around the world revolve around a weeping female ghost searching for her lost loved ones. Whether it's the mysterious woman in white or the Mexican lament of La Llorona, lost female souls are the bread and butter of ghost stories. Ravenwood, it turns out, has one too.

Alice is the weeping mother of Mourningvale. She is searching for her lost children (much like La Llorona) and can task players to help her. Those who do will be able to free Alice's spirit and learn a bit more about the town of Ravenwood.
1 The Olive Ghost
Queen of the Dead
The Olive Specter has been one of the icons of The Sims 2 since 2004. Introduced as a mysterious woman living in a graveyard full of people she presumably murdered, Olive served as one of the truly evil Sims in the series. She was recreated as Maxis in The Sims 4 Gallery, but Life and Death marks her true return to the series.
Ravenwood's Olive is much the same, with a few major differences. Here, Olive raised her son, Nyon, and settled down to serve as an undertaker in a small town. It's pretty normal now. Sure enough, her graveyard is still full of dead husbands and she's going to 'help' her fiancé become a ghost. But we're sure that's all over the top. Go visit Olive's garden and see how harmless it is. it will be good.
