Updated on October 26, 2024, by Dominic Allen: PlayStation Plus has been killing it lately, adding tons of great horror games that make the subscription well worth it. With the recent additions of Last of Us Part 1 and the Capcom PS1 classic Dino Crisis, this list had to be updated. Since games come and go on the service, a few titles have been removed, like Slender and Alien: Isolation. That’s too bad, but there’s still plenty of great horror games on offer.

Resident Evil Director’s Cut

The Game That Birthed Survival Horror

If you want to play the original Resident Evils 1 through 3, you can play them on GOG, but what if you want to play them on modern consoles. The only official game on a modern system is the PS1 Resident Evil Director’s Cut, playable through PS Plus. Sure, the remake’s better, but the OG remains a great experience that still holds up, especially in the comedy factor with the voice acting.

Thankfully, this is the base Director’s Cut, not the Dual Shock version like on PS3. That edition has terrible music, which has become infamous in the community, so you’re all set for a good time on PS5.

Dino Crisis

The Fan Favorite Returns On PS Plus

Dino Crisis has to be one of the most beloved abandoned Capcom series, with many still wanting a full-blown Dino Crisis remake. The first two games on PS1 have been rising in price, so thankfully, you can play the original on PS Plus.

It is one of the best survival horror games of the era; the depth here is so much bigger, with many new gameplay features not seen in Resident Evil. You have a great female protagonist as well, along with branching choices similar to classic RE3. The last third can be a bit of a drag, but the game as a whole remains a PS1 classic.

The Last Of Us Part 1

One Of The Best Games You Can Play On PS5

You may not think of The Last of Us Part 1 as a horror game, but it’s definitely horror-adjacent since it takes place in a zombie apocalypse. Yes, the enemies aren’t technically zombies, but it’s still a zombie game at the end of the day.
