The Bungie community is divided at the worst possible time

As recently announced by Bungie, Fate 2 is sadly coming to its untimely end on June 9th with the latest update ushering in a new era for the game with no new content, live service patches, expansions or anything like that. Latest update for Fate 2 June 9 seems to be pretty crucial for the non-expansion patch, and Bungie will share more information ahead of launch. For now, players can check out the first Dev Insight post, which includes the return of the Director, a revamp of all Destination rewards with unique events for each, Sparrow Racing League, and more. This is a dream little update for the game at the worst possible time, and yet the community is divided.

Since the announcement Fate 2End of support, the discourse of Marathon killing the game became more and more widespread on the Internet, to the point where community members and content creators Aztecross and Myelin Games ended up arguing about their opinion on what should happen to Marathon, and a hypothetical Fate 3. Fate 2's demise is potentially a huge cause of grief for fans, especially those who have devoted years of their lives to the game, so it's especially heartbreaking to see the game go. On the other hand, Marathon is a “new” game and some people think it contributed to it Fate 2death and should therefore be boycotted. The result is a lose-lose situation where both Bungie games could face the executioner instead of one.

Destiny 3 is not happening, Bungie is expected to be hit with significant layoffs

Bungie is reportedly facing significant layoffs and Destiny 3 is said to be off the table as the studio shifts its focus elsewhere.

How Destiny vs. A marathon discourse pitted Aztecross against Myelin Games

Aztecross is perhaps the biggest content creator Fate 2with over a million subscribers to his YouTube channel and Myelin Games contributed Fate 2's lore and lore archive over the years. The problem is that Aztecross openly stated in the video that they will not support Marathon in any way shape or form moving forward and if burial has occurred Marathon to get more Fate 2 or Fate 3he would do it.

This is a strong stance for a platform as large as Aztecross', and is likely unhealthy for the Bungie developers who worked on both games, and could be detrimental to Marathon. Even if he didn't mean it, his platform is big enough that those words could have a huge impact Marathon to put it mildly. In fact, Myelin was enjoying himself Marathon recently, after years in Fate 2 community and probably felt it was an attack on the game he loves.

Reaction after she also dealt with a lot of hate towards Marathon in recent days to that extent Marathon was bombed again for “killing Fate 2” was to flip the Aztecross statement and make a point of wanting more Marathon for the price Fate. In addition, Myelin Games then continued to produce it Fate lore videos on his private YouTube channel.

This “war” between Fate and Marathon it comes at the worst possible time, and yet it makes sense that it's happening now. A misconception that Marathon killed Fate 2 it was boosted by some events such as Bungie's management diverting around $200 million Fate 2 earnings for the development of Marathon or the recent news that most of the Bungie developers have been working on Marathon place Fate 2. However, this is primarily a problem of Bungie's management combined with Sony's reluctance to finance expensive projects after the already unsuccessful acquisition of Bungie for $3.6 billion.

Regardless, the community should not choose sides va Fate vs. Marathon a war that does not make sense and may as well lead Marathon to the same fate as Fate 2leading to more layoffs at Bungie and almost certainly destroying any chance Fate 3 happening. There's no point in pitting the games against each other anymore, especially when you look at how Paul Tassi's recent report points out “Destiny Infinity' plans to keep Fate 2 which were never greenlit.

Between the planned June 9 slam server and the official one Fate 3 In the petition, fans are doing what they can to make their voices heard, but the same report states that Bungie sources believe that these actions will lead to nothing. It remains to be seen what happens, but it is much more likely that it will have some form of sequel Fate as IP if Marathon succeed, not fail.
