It's no secret that Jennifer English has a knack for playing absolute bangers. The actor has appeared in Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and they are all certified historians. Whether it's what roles to choose or just plain luck, you can't deny that it was a common factor in these games.
It's not just the plays that have been well received, English has won several awards for her acting, most recently winning the 2026 BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. So it's no surprise that her Clair Obscur co-star and the voice of Monoco, Rich Keeble, has said he'd love to join her next project.
Jennifer English could be just the ingredient for success
Of course, it's not just English that has made these games successful, and even the actress admits she's had her share of bad games. But that didn't stop Keeble from believing that his co-star could do no wrong and that following her into her next project could be a great career move.
In an interview with IGN, Keeble was asked about the Jennifer English effect, to which he replied, “I'm starting to believe it, yes. I'm happy to follow Jennifer English in whatever work she does next. It seems like a sure thing.” That sounds like a great strategy to me. Keeble should find a way to get to Tides of Annihilation.
The Clair Obscur cast proves you don't have to be a gamer to respect games
At the BAFTAs, Charlie Cox and Tracy Wiles were eager to shine a light on their mocap counterparts: Maxence Cazorla and Estelle Darnault.
Of course, English played it down, saying, “I think I've been very, very lucky. We're just chalking it up to chance.”
The Englishwoman most recently lent her voice to Bungie's Marathon as Joy, a community liaison in the colony. It's a supporting role, unlike her previous two gigs, and Marathon isn't as successful as Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring either, so maybe the Jen English effect only works when she's in the lead role.
And to think she almost forgot to audition for Clair Obscur and ended up recording it in bed at 2am.
