One of the best aspects open world games is the ability to appreciate their beauty. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a good example of a huge and immersive open world that's as much fun to navigate as it is to fight in, and now it's even better on Switch 2. However, while the bold, bright and colorful worlds are fun to explore, so is the onslaught of destroying them.
For everyone chaotic need to be destroyed, these open world games do not disappoint. From fighting hordes of continuous enemies to blowing things up in huge clouds of fire and smoke, these games are sure to satisfy that hunger. Part of the fun will be players constantly trying to outdo themselves and make a bigger destructive mess than before.
Grand Theft Auto 5
Wanted Dead or Alive
The Grand Theft Auto the series practically created the chaotic energy of open-world sandbox games. The latest post in the series, Grand Theft Auto 5gave players a larger world to explore and destroy, and with three protagonists to switch between at almost any time.
The Wanted rating system is still present, so players can shoot into areas, blow up cars, and run from the police like a tornado of doom. Multiplayer is an even wilder experience and players are still actively living their best lives online with friends.
Just Cause 2
A match with Chaos
Just Cause 2 is where the series got better and the subsequent sequels match the chaotic energy of this game. The vast, destructible open world offered plenty of vehicles, weapons and stunt opportunities, along with a suspicious number of explosive fuel tanks to shoot at.
Two key gameplay elements engage players right from the start. First, they have a hook that can swing with them and also give them enough air to glide on the parachute. Second, this grappling hook can be attached to almost any object, meaning players can hook an enemy onto a gas tank and then watch fireworks, and that's just one fun and explosive example.
Far Cry 6
Take down the tyranny
Starting with Far Cry 3Ubisoft took the series into wilder territory, which was for the better. latest record, Far Cry 6may not be the most popular among fans, but it's the one that offers some of the craziest ways to take down enemies.
The game revolves around overthrowing a tyrannical government, and players can take over bases and cause explosions, all in the name of freedom. Even better, players can recruit animal companions to help them in battle, such as a crocodile to craft Far Cry 6 as a more political and harsh version Pokemon.
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Knock It Down
The one thing missing from many open world games is true freedom when it comes to destroying the environment. Therefore Red Faction: Guerrilla it stands out because almost every vehicle and structure in the game can be destroyed, and the game actively encourages players to go crazy with it.
It doesn't matter if players use guns, grenades, or their trusty hammer; buildings will fall. Mars isn't the prettiest setting for an open world game, but it sure is fun to destroy things.
Borderlands 4
Guns, Guns and more Guns
Borderlands 4 is the first game in the series to feature a fully realized open world design that is seamless from start to finish. Fans of the franchise know what to expect from this latest iteration: lots of guns.
While some weapons can be compared to the basic rifles and pistols commonly found in Call of Duty games, most weapons are more versatile as they can explode, set enemies on fire, poison enemies, and so on. The core gameplay loop of accepting quests, shooting enemies and getting even crazier weapons is what keeps fans coming back more than the narrative. Borderlands 4 is the pinnacle of this formula.
Saints Row 4
Super powerful gangsters
The Saints Row series is like an even crazier version Grand Theft Autowith Saints Row 4 depicting the height of insanity. In this entry, the world is invaded by aliens and players gain superpowers after escaping the simulation. They are also the President of the United States.
Players can run around like The Flash or freeze enemies like Mr. Freeze, plus there are a large number of weapons, such as one that can blow an enemy's head open like a cartoon. For anyone who wants to run around the city, fight aliens and control cool superpowers, Saints Row 4 is a game to play.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
The West is back
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a remaster/remake of the original game starring photographer Frank West in the mountain town of Willamette, Colorado. Instead of going behind the scenes, West is there to capture the zombie outbreak on film. When there's a problem with his ride, West gets stuck in a mall and has to survive wave after wave of zombies inside and outside the mall area.
Fortunately, players can craft weapons out of common objects, such as glue knives to boxing gloves or use a lawnmower to clear the lines of zombies lured into the mall. It's more goofy than scary, as the zombies blend in like normal cannon fodder, making them perfect targets for West's latest makeshift weapon.
Days gone
The most disturbing zombie in the game so far
Days gone is the exact opposite Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterbecause the zombies found in this game are scary. Sometimes they appear in small groups like most zombie games, but in more intense areas the zombies will roam like swarms of ants, there can easily be a hundred or more attacking at once.
This makes overtaking more intense as there is no easy way to take them out without overpowering them. Although this zombie game released on PlayStation does not have as dramatic a story as e.g. The last of us, Days gone it can be scary and chaotic in itself.
