Very few sets in Pokemon TCG highlight the leading Pokémon of your generation as beautifully as Emerald. These Pokemon from the Hoenn region may not have gotten all the attention individually, but as a collective, the group has an incredibly diverse roster of legendary and non-legendary Pokemon.
While some of the most expensive historical sets exceed the value of cards in Emerald, this set puts up an impressive fight as it boasts several expensive cards, each of which could be called a chase card of the set. From its high-flying Rayquaza card to some oft-forgotten hidden gems, Emerald earns its title as one of the most valuable sets of the EX-era.

10 Camerupt Ex (Ultra Rare) – $45.61
Ready to explode
You might not expect Camerupt to be among the best cards in any set, but he offers an impressive illustration that perfectly captures his explosive personality and fiery accents. Camerupt's visually distinct card boasts unusually vivid display this forgotten Fire-type Pokemon.
Unfortunately, Camerupt is difficult to find and you may have to compromise depending on the condition you're looking for, as there aren't many recent sales across the spectrum of conditions. However, it was played moderately (MP) copies usually sell for $22, lightly played (LP) the following cards for around $39, with the best near mint (NM) cards commanding $46.
9 Registeel Ex (Ultra Rare) – $47.00
A strong start for the trio
The Legendary Regi trio is a fascinating set of titans that you'll encounter as you explore the caves of Hoenn, with the dark background of this card serving as a reminder of the dark places these Pokemon dwell.
Each Regi contains a representation of them shrouded in shadows where they reside and slumber undisturbed in their caves for hundreds of years.
This card may be even more difficult to find than Camerupt, with MP copies of this card selling for nearly $35, followed by LP copies, which so far only boast sales of $36. However, NM copy sold for $99, helps increase the market price of this card.
8 Rayquaza (Holo Rare) – $58.40
Exception
Rayquaza stands alone as the only non-ex card to produce the highest value cards in Emerald, bucking the trend of other value cards against the backdrop of Rayquaza's unrivaled popularity. This artwork is surprisingly detailed for the relatively small amount of space available, which makes it an impressive exception to the rule.
This card starts at $13 if you're only looking for a damaged copy, while you'll pay up to $63 for an NM copy if you're interested in buying only the best. However, LP copies offer a nice middle ground along with a significant discount, selling for only around $26. The reverse holo version of this card sells for even more but only has one recent LP sale for $95 a no market price.
7 Altaria Ex (Ultra Rare) – $62.00
Whipping
Altaria is causing quite a stir with this beautiful action shot of this Dragon-type Pokemon surrounded by a vortex of its creation.
Unlike the cards that came before, Altaria boasts data for a variety of options, starting at $18.77 for damaged copies and jumping all the way up to $27 for HP copies. MP cards will move closer to the $33 range, followed finally by LP at $50 and NM cards sell for up to $62.
6 Regice Ex (Ultra Rare) – $75.19
Loses grip
The other member of the trio stands tall above its peers, boasting a roughly $30 lead over Regirock, as Regice's display is undeniably cooler. White flecks and blue background accents provide the perfect complement to the Regica's cool exterior.
While Regice's significant lead is impressive, this card doesn't reach even higher by the smallest edge, slipping away from its grip on the top five.
Regice can sell for up to $100 in NM condition, although you can find small discounts on LP cards that usually sell for $80. Finally, bargain hunters can expect to pay less than $30 if you're looking for an HP copy.
5 Raichu Ex (Ultra Rare) – $76.34
A rare Raich sighting
Raichu carries the torch for Electric-type Pokémon in Emerald, as this valuable card boasts a high price tag, although it can't compete with the most valuable Raikou cards, which represent the pinnacle of design and value for many Electric-type Pokémon.
Fortunately, this Raichu is probably the most affordable of the most valuable cards in Emerald and offers a high total number of sales to analyze, starting with damaged copies under $20. HP and MP copies skyrocket to $50 and sell for a few bucks NM cards jump into the $75 range.
4 Dusclops Ex (Ultra Rare) – $87.00
Creeping up
Dusclops ex offers an unusually close look at the Ghost-type pokemon, zooming in so we can see its single eye glowing red in preparation for something hideous. It looks like Dusclops is ready to reach out and grab us, but it won't be that simple if you want to find and buy this card.
Dusclops boasts only two recent sales, an MP copy for $43.75 and an LP for $75, leaving us with an incredibly wide range of potential values to fill. While it's clear that the NM copy should be over $75, it's hard to say if this card will maintain its market price of $87.
3 Regirock Ex (Ultra Rare) – $100.23
A hidden gem
Regirock tops the trio, managing to reach a triple-digit market price to put itself head and shoulders above its peers, and boasts a value that almost equal to the other two pokemon combined.
Even if it doesn't manage to open such a wide lead, it's still impressive.
Unlike Dusclops, you'll find plenty of information on Regirock as this card trades widely, with HP copies starting around $35 and NM copies soared as high as the market price on two occasions.
2 Milotic Ex (Ultra Rare) – $120.00
Sparkling beauty
Milotic is making a strong case for being the second most valuable card from Emerald, falling short of the top spot in terms of value, but still just one spot away from winning, with a card that deserves a lot of praise.
The range for this card is incredibly wide, with damaged copies often falling below the $40 mark, while LP cards routinely exceed $120. NM copies are almost impossible to get your hands on, copies sell for $259 to $400.
1 Deoxys Ex Speed Form (Ultra Rare) – $239.99
Rise into the stratosphere
Deoxys claims the crown as the most valuable card in Emerald, with one of the best Deoxys cards ever, depicting this Pokemon rocketing through space in its Speed Form.
A shimmering holographic pattern provides the perfect backdrop for this mythical Pokémon.
While Deoxys doesn't have a massive sales list to sort through, its only NM sale sits at market price, followed by an LP copy that sold for $139.99. There is no doubt that this card in NM condition is worth a lot, but more sales would help confirm if $239 is an accurate valuation.
