Playground Games has announced the arrival of the Back to the 90s update Forza Horizon 5 this month. The upcoming addition of nostalgia-inducing content brings with it four new 90s-era reward cars, themed events and races, tons of bug fixes and improvements, a returning fan-favorite feature, and more. Widely regarded as one of the best open-world racing games of recent years, Forza Horizon 5 since its launch in November 2021, it has seen significant support from developers Playground Games. New cars, game modes, features, playlists and more are added regularly Forza Horizon 5 through monthly content updates that are often themed around the seasons. However, the upcoming Back to the 90s update for Forza Horizon 5 ditches the haunting October theme and instead focuses on players yearning for an era long gone.
A return to the 90s will turn back the clock Forza Horizon 5 launching October 10th with four new 90s reward cars namely the Aston Martin Lagonda, Subaru SVX, Toyota Soarer 2.5 GT-T and Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R. A new 90s themed festival playlist with special races, challenges and events will be available and players can search for a new VHS collectible, unlock 90s cosmetic outfits, and earn up to three new badges. Recently added Hide and Seek game mode Forza Horizon 5 also gains five new custom achievements.
Most notably, however, the Back to the 90s update will finally bring Horizon Backstage Forza Horizon 5. This function returns from the previous one Forza Horizon Check-ins are very popular with car collectors as they allow players to be rewarded each week for cars that have been locked behind previous festival playlists. Six cars will initially be available via Horizon Backstage, after which the community will vote on one of the two car pairs each week. Players are excited about the inclusion of Horizon Backstage, as one of the fastest Forza Horizon 5 cars are exclusive to older festival playlists.
If Forza Horizon 5 updates are coming, Return to the 90s is quite modest in terms of content. Plenty of players will no doubt appreciate the themed events, collectibles and cars, although Playground missed the opportunity to add some 90s pop music in the same vein as Forza Horizon 5Retrowave update.
