Ambrosia is one of the most sought after foods in The Sims 4and its effects extend far beyond a full stomach. Named after the nectar of the gods in ancient Greek mythology, ambrosia lives up to its moniker as it is incredibly difficult to create The Sims 4but many will try because it is worth it. After all, it has the incredible effect of resetting a Sim's lifespan and even raising the dead.
Ambrosia has been a cult food ever since The Sims 3and became even more important in The Sims 4 due to the increased difficulty in obtaining it. The Potion of Youth has pretty much replaced the need for ambrosia to reset a Sim's lifespan, but there is nothing else that can bring a Sim's spirit back to life yet. This may change with The Sims 4: Life and Deathbut it is also possible that ragweed may play a larger role in the future.

Fans of The Sims 4 are asking Maxis and EA to bring one iconic NPC from the franchise's older games to the latest entry in the series.
How to get Ambrosia in The Sims 4
Ambrosia must be crafted, rather than bought, with various skills. Fortunately, multiple Sims can collect these components, which can streamline the process. All ingredients for ambrosia have life and death involved in some way. Ambrosia has four potential effects:
- Restores hunger to the fullest
- Gives a Divine Meal mood
- Resets the Sim's lifespan to the beginning of their current life phase
- It revives spirits
Because it has such powerful effects, the process of obtaining ambrosia can take a long time. Ambrosia and the ingredients to create it cannot be bought The Sims 4and can only be made by a Sim with maximum cooking and gourmet cooking skills. Ingredients for ambrosia include:
- Flower of death
- Scalars
- Potion of youth
Growing a death flower in The Sims 4 requires a gardening skill of 10 and grafting a pomegranate plant and an orchid plant. These plants take a long time to grow and once they grow, you need to grow the Death Flower once the plant has been grafted. Angelfish require fishing skill level 3 to catch. The last ingredient, the potion of youth, is only available in the reward shop for 1500 points.
Ambrosia may have a new role in The Sims 4: Life and Death
Once all the ingredients for ambrosia are obtained, the food must be prepared by a Sim who has maxed out their cooking and gourmet skills. Eating the food will restore the youth of the Sim who eats it, but ambrosia is better known as a way to bring the Sims' spirits back to life. Because it takes so long to acquire the skills and ingredients needed for ambrosia, Sims may be at the end of their lives when they are finally able to create the dish.
WITH The Sims 4: Life and Death down the road, ambrosia may have a different role, as spirits are likely to play a larger role The Sims 4. Bucket Lists, Unfinished Business, and Rebirth will be introduced, and it's uncertain how ambrosia will fit into these new gameplay mechanics. The Reaper Reward's Challenge is focused on creating ambrosia, so it's likely that it will play a role in the future. How ambrosia was an icon The Sims from The Sims 3it is unlikely to be removed from the series.
