When it comes to Transformers franchise and pop culture as a whole, many fans agree Optimus Prime he is one of the greatest fictional leaders of all time. Since 1984, Optimus Prime has had many different adversaries, from level-headed foes like Megatron to multiverse threats like Unicron. Whether using his physical strength or tactical genius, Optimus is a character that is always better to fight alongside than against.

Over the years, fans have enjoyed various iterations of Optimus Prime, from weaker, more grounded depictions to space-level superpowers. 9 Master of action

Optimus Prime appears in Marvel Transformers, Generation 2 and Regeneration 1

Master Prime Event he was reborn after Power Master Prime died during a battle with Unicron. The Last Autobot combined the remaining parts of Power Master Optimus Prime and Hi-Q to form Action Master Prime. Although his time in print was short-lived, we have some notable deeds that can help us gauge his power.

In Generation 2, Action Master Prime is able to match Jhiaxus, which is no easy task. Meanwhile, in Regeneration 1, Action Master Prime was able to defeat Megatron by ripping his Spark. However, he took significant damage during the battle with Jhiaxus, showing his low durability in this iteration, and was eventually killed by Rodimus Prime at the end of Regeneration 1.

8 Generation 1

The original Optimus Prime

A fan favorite of the majority, Gen 1 Optimus Prime is the archetype upon which all Optimus Primes are built. Formerly Orin Pax, Optimus Prime was upgraded from a regular Autobot to a powerful Alpha Trion warrior. This version of Optimus Prime has shown considerable resilience, even though he was completely torn apart, Gen 1 Optimus Prime was able to maintain control over parts of his body before being rebuilt. In the end, however, he died during Transformers: The Movie after the battle with Megaton.

This variant of Optimus Prime has shown some impressive feats of strength. During the Gen 1 cartoon episode “The Ultimate Doom – Part 3”, Megatron survives a planet-destroying explosion and comes out with only minor damage. However, Prime is able to deal much more damage to Megatron, indicating that his power exceeds that of a planet-destroying blast.

7 Transformers Armada

Optimus Prime by Transformers Armada he is one of the most skilled hand-to-hand fighters in this ranking and consistently defeats his opponents. In the episode “Mortal Struggle” of the Armada cartoon, Prime defeats Megatron without the Matrix of Leadership, a tool most other Primes rely on. This version of Prime can also enter super mode and can combine with his trailer. As he does this, he gains increased strength, power and durability.

Army Unfortunately, Optimus Prime has some inconsistent durability performance that prevents it from ranking higher. One way only Army Optimus Prime was defeated by being shot by the Hydra Cannon, known as the most powerful weapon in existence combining the Star Sabre, Skyboom Shield and Requiem Blaster. On the other hand, this version of Optimus was visibly injured by a small group of Mini-Cons, indicating that his durability is lower than others in this ranking.

6 Transformers Prime

Optimus Prime byTransformers: Prime is an underrated powerhouse who has faced the likes of Predaking, Dreadwing, Skyquake and Megatron while holding his own. He displayed impressive feats of strength, wielding the Star Saber, one of the most powerful weapons in the universe.

Throughout the show, this version of Optimus Prime repeatedly shows how durable he is during many battles with Megatron and other powerful enemies. Despite near death, this version managed to survive a massive explosion during the destruction of the Autobot base. However, he is not invincible. During season 1 Transformers: Primewe see Prime brought to near death by exposure to extreme cold, a weakness others on this list don't seem to share.

5 Bayverse

Optimus Prime from the Michael Bay films

Optimus Prime from the Michael Bay movies he is without a doubt the most skilled fighter on this list, repeatedly facing multiple enemies at once, such as his encounters with Megatron and the Fallen. This version of Prime is perhaps the most aggressive and ruthless iteration of Prime ever, he never thought about it when he was cutting through the Decepticons.

Bayverse Optimus Prime has shown impressive durability, surviving attacks from Megatron and Sentinel Prime at the same time, and even surviving a shot to the chest from Lockdown. One of this Prime's most impressive feats of strength is when he effortlessly tackles Grimlock, sending him flying. IN The age of extinctionThis version of Optimus Prime also has built-in flight technology that allows him to fly without adding extra bulk and weight like the others in this ranking.

4 Transformers: Cybertron

Transformers: Cybertron has an over-the-top anime style with nudes in this version courtesy of Optimus Prime. He is one of the strongest versions of Optimus Prime ever, able to wield the Metroplex Ax which is more than three times the size of Optimus himself. He has gone toe-to-toe with some of the most powerful villains in the universe, such as Galvatron.

This version of Optimus is one of the best fighting fighters in this ranking, using the Cybertronian martial art known as Metalico to defeat his opponents. He also has a super mode that allows him to combine with his trailer to gain increased firepower, speed, and the ability to fly.

3 Powermaster

Optimus Prime from Marvel Transformers

Powermaster Optimus Prime lives up to the name. It is one of the most powerful versions of Optimus Prime ever. He's strong enough to go toe-to-toe with Galvatron and Grimlock, and easily knocks Dreadwing and Darkwing out of the sky. This version of Prime once took on Scorponok's entire army on his own with relative ease.

Powermaster Prime is also one of the most durable Prime ever. He consistently survived damage that would normally destroy even the most durable Transformers. He survived Scorponok attacks and a direct shot from the Matrix of Leadership, which is usually a fatal blow. He was only defeated when he flew the Matrix of Leadership into Unicron, causing Unicron to be destroyed. During his death, Unicron releases an explosion of divine energy that ultimately defeats Prime. The only thing that keeps this version of Prime from being rated higher is its reliance on Hi-Q.

2 IDW

Optimus Prime from IDW Comics

IDW Prime is perhaps the most popular printed version of Optimus Prime. This Prime version has some of the best durability in this ranking. He survived the destruction of the space bridge, meaning he survived a force strong enough to tear space and time apart. He also survived being trapped in an antimatter chamber, withstood a blast from Nova Prime, and survived being shot by Shockwave, who at the time had the power to bend space and time itself.

IDW Prime's power is no joke either, as she managed to penetrate Sixshot's armor, made of metals from a dying star that was previously thought to be indestructible. He was also able to take out Menasor, Monstructor, and Thunderwing with relative ease. Despite his great strength, this version of Prime often holds back his true power, much like his Generation 1 counterpart.

1 Alternity Prime

Although it's a bit of a scam, Alternity Prime must be number one on this list. When Optimus received a warning that Megatron would summon the destructive Hytherion, the “Beast of Time” to help fight a being of pure evil, Optimus Prime joined the Alternity, a powerful race of hyperdimensional beings.

Alternity Prime has godlike powers, capable of transcending the multiverse itself. Due to his unimaginable power, Alternity Prime possesses the abilities, strength, memories, skills, and experiences of all past and future Optimus Primes across existence, essentially making Alternity Prime the ultimate version of Optimus Prime by combining every other version of Optimus Prime into one superbeing.
