Which are your favorites?
There are several power-ups to encounter, Temto to capture, and skills to invest in. They are easy to get into but hard to master – Temtem: Swarm uses roguelike elements and asks you to hone a unique playstyle. No matter which Temto you choose to get along with, these tips and tricks will help you improve the process.
This is an early access game and as such may change when updated!
Switching between automatic and manual aiming
If you're playing the game for the first time, you'll notice that manually aiming where you want to attack (while moving the Temtem) helps you clean specific areas full of enemies. Or it can help you move in the desired direction while overcoming any obstacles.
However sometimes it's best to let the game do it for you while your attention is given to other things. At the same time, completely relying on it is not beneficial. Try to find a balance, especially if your Temtem is doing a ranged attack.
When clearing intense swarms, try to focus on the direction you are moving and let the auto attack take care of the enemies.
Upgrade magnetic abilities
Of all the upgrades you can get at the start of the game, Investing in a magnetic module is a must! This helps you draw resources towards you as you move around the map and destroy everything and everyone in your way. It also speeds up the leveling process towards the end of the game.
Once you are at the fourth level of this ability, your “pull” will be strong enough to retrieve items that are far from your reach. This is it especially useful when fighting a boss or a large enemy that prevents you from standing still.
Rather than relying on your ultimate attack as a weapon, consider it a tool. First, focus on the direction you are moving and carefully move towards objectives (such as events) while dodging enemies. Next, use your ultimate to take out enemies chasing you or a boss you're trying to take down.
Much of Temtem: Swarm's gameplay is a combination of survival and combat skills. That means you will have to use the game's movement mechanics to your advantageand that's when your ultimate will come in handy.
Look for collectibles around you
While traversing the map, you'll come across objects that may not be paying attention. Some items (like boxes) may be brokenwhich will provide you with resources that can help you on your journey. Some of these resources are also awarded to you when you defeat a boss or an equally daunting enemy.
Even if they don't have clear markers on the map, they usually will highlighted with a soft mauve/violet shade. This item is best attacked manually rather than relying on auto attack as it is easy to attack for these items while running away from a horde of enemies.
Replace items and abilities as needed
Every now and then you will have to make a decision that can change the game experience a bit. As your Temtem levels up, you will be asked to choose a technique/ability or item. This will improve stats and survivability. Replace the previous ability you relied on if the new one promises better synergy.
When something new appears that you haven't taken before, it's ok to choose this item/ability. For example, instead of choosing a blockade technique to upgrade your defenses, equipping the Fortify Band might be more useful.
Continue to check your current abilities by pausing the game.
First, upgrade your survival skills
Once you've played a game or several, you'll unlock the ability to permanently upgrade Temtema's traits. These include attack damage, speed, defense, and so on. He is the best of all make sure your Temtem is fast and strong enoughrather than deadly and tough in battle.
Doing so will encourage your Temtem to do so survive the harsh enemies of the map at the beginning of the game. As you collect resources, you will still gain abilities as you play the game. While there are no limits to how you can traverse the map, enemies can be of different types, so it's best to be prepared!
Selection by Temtem
When you first play the game, you only have two Temtems to choose from. Even if you are a player who prefers ranged combat, we strongly recommend trying Smazee first. This Temtem's melee attacks get stronger as the match progresses. Once evolved into the even more powerful Temtem, this mighty warrior aggressively plows through swarms of enemies without much concern for damage taken.
No matter which Temtem you choose, make sure develop them the moment the opportunity arises. Although optional, this is a great option for both solo players and groups to feel more powerful in the game as the difficulty increases. In rare cases, it makes sense to prioritize ability over evolution, so decide based on how your Temtem feels at the moment.
When playing as Smazee, try to implement techniques like Haito Uchi and Martial Strike to deal short to medium range damage.
Mix up your arsenal
Techniques are important to upgrade as you work your way through swarms and objectives. The combination of a number of techniques ensures that your Temtem is versatilealmost like a jack of all trades. This comes into play a lot when you fight the final boss, so… think ahead, especially if you're solo and don't have a group to support you.
If your Temtem does a lot of close range damage, it's a good idea to also introduce some attacks to keep the area safe. Attacks like Boomerang and Data Burst are great for long range combat. The best way to keep your arsenal versatile is to have melee and ranged attacks without having to replace a single ability.
Participate in events
The tricky thing about Temtem: Swarm is how complicated it can be to control your movement throughout the game. As you level up, “events” will appear that ask you to participate in them in order to complete certain objectives. Try to prioritize them because it's not worth skipping.
These events will randomly appear in different locations on the map and you will have to go to them. Some of them will allow you to unlock a new Temtem, while others will reward you with resources.
If the event requires you to stay in one place, try circling the area. Avoid staying still!
Be aware of healing items
In addition to upgrading your skills and gaining abilities, there are several items on the map that will help you heal. It's not easy to notice at first, since you'll probably focus on fighting through hordes of enemies, but look at the corners of the screen.
About every minute an object (like fruit) will lie there.. The moment you pass through it, some of your Temtem's health is restored. While this isn't a long-term solution to having a strong health bar overall, it's useful when dealing with tough enemies. Additionally, try to get upgrades that promise maximum health and healing options mid-battle.
