Officially announced in September 2023, Stories of the Region debuted its first trailer during a difficult time lord of the rings franchises, with infamous ones Goofy which was launched only a few months ago. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to begin the month on February 11, the same day as Civilization 7. Assassin's Creed Shadows is now set to launch just a few days later on February 14th. Don't Nod's Lost Records: Bloom and Rage comes out on February 18th right next to Obsidian's Open. and finally, Monster Hunter Wilds and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii both end the month in style on February 28.
February could be one of the biggest months of 2025 in terms of video game releases, and there's practically no breathing room already. fortunately Stories of the Region is avoiding this February crunch altogether, instead releasing on March 25th, 2025. After such a busy month full of massive AAA RPGs and grand strategy games, Stories of the Region it can feel like a refreshing breath of much lighter air, hopefully delivering a cosy, nostalgic and uncomplicated experience.
Tales of the Shire could sneak in before the next wave
But February won't be the only busy time for games in 2025. If every game currently confirmed for 2025 makes it to release, it could easily end up being the best year in video game history. Long awaited sequels like Borderlands 4, Metroid Prime 4, Death Stranding 2, Fableand recently announced Ghost of Yotei all are currently set for release next year.
Experimental franchise spinoffs like 2XKO, Doom: The Dark Agesand Pokemon Legends: ZA are also on their way. and of course Grand Theft Auto 6 will finally hit consoles next year in what could end up being the biggest event in gaming history.
2025 is quickly shaping up to be a very busy year for video game releases Stories of the Region she seemed to have found her sweet spot. Stories of the Region is managing to avoid the initial February surge while likely avoiding the heavy hitting that is likely to come soon after the March launch.
