Even if Black Myth: Wukong always had a lot of publicity behind it, most people probably didn't expect the game to be as successful as it was. This Journey to the WestThe inspired action RPG took the gaming world by storm when it was released on PC and PlayStation 5 earlier this year. Shortly after launch on August 20, 2024 Black Myth: Wukong has reached over 2.4 million concurrent players on Steam, making it by far the most concurrently played single-player game of all time on Valve's PC storefront. In addition, it sold a staggering 10 million copies across all platforms in just 3 days, an incredible feat that very few games have accomplished. Black Myth: Wukong it eventually sold a total of 20 million units as of October 1st and received Overwhelmingly Positive Ratings on Steam.
Given how successful the title was on PS5 and PC, it's unfortunate that it's not available on Xbox, at least not at the moment. Black Myth: Wukong it was originally supposed to be released for the Xbox Series X/S alongside the PlayStation and PC versions of the game, but in June 2024 the Xbox port was suddenly postponed to an unspecified date. at that time BM:W Developer Game Science has claimed that the launch of its hit action RPG on Microsoft consoles has been delayed due to optimization issues, although it declined to specify what those issues were. It's still unclear what exactly is causing this delay, but when the game is ready for release on Microsoft consoles, it would be great if Game Science could replicate what Larian Studios did. Baldur's Gate 3 and its Xbox port.

Black Myth: Wukong should do what Baldur's Gate 3 did with the Xbox release
The Xbox version of Baldur's Gate 3 was also delayed due to technical issues
Like Black Myth: WukongXbox version Baldur's Gate 3 it also suffered an infamous delay. In early 2023 when Larian Studios announced it BG3 is coming to PlayStation 5, has not confirmed whether the game will be coming to Xbox Series X/S. Because of this, many assumed that Sony secured the recognized Dungeons & Dragons RPG as a PS console exclusive, as was the case with third-party titles such as Final Fantasy 16 and Deathloop. However, Larian quickly dispelled these claims as the company revealed that it has not signed any exclusivity deals with PlayStation pro Baldur's Gate 3.
Shortly after, Larian Studios confirmed that they were working on an Xbox port of the game, but was unable to release it alongside the PS5 version due to technical difficulties, specifically with regards to the Series S. Baldur's Gate 3Unfortunately, the split-screen co-op mode couldn't work well on the lower-spec Xbox, and due to the parity clause Microsoft had in place, Larian couldn't release the game on the Series X or S without fixing this issue. Fortunately, after a huge success BG3 on PS5 and PC Microsoft stepped in to help the Belgian developer get the game to Xbox as soon as possible by having it released on the Series S without splitscreen support. Baldur's Gate 3The Xbox port was formally announced during The Game Awards 2023 and was surprisingly released at the same time that day.
Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox port should be shadowed at The Game Awards, just like Baldur's Gate 3
Game Science could benefit from something similar with an eventual Xbox pro port announcement Black Myth: Wukong. A recent ESRB rating seems to indicate that BM:W could be coming to Microsoft's consoles as early as this year, and if it does, shadowing the Series X/S version of the game at The Game Awards seems like a smart idea. Not only will the port gain significantly more media attention in this way, but it will also allow Xbox players to experience Game Science's popular action RPG on their preferred platform before 2024 ends. Since this release strategy has worked with Baldur's Gate 3it should work as well Black Myth: Wukong.
