VP of Xbox responded to players affected by the recent Xbox Backward Compatibility Program issues. The message posted has given some Xbox players hope that the issue will be resolved soon, but some remain frustrated with how the issue is being handled and the difficulties in contacting those trying to help.
The Xbox backwards compatibility issue is impacting those who want to play Xbox 360 games on the current generation Xbox Series X/S consoles. The Xbox Backward Compatibility program has been praised and appreciated by many gamers over the years, but some are now saying they haven't been able to access their older games on Xbox for weeks or even months.

Xbox is holding a new Helix console event next week
A new Xbox event will be held next week that will offer new information about the successor to the Xbox Series X/S, codenamed Project Helix.
Xbox VP addresses backwards compatibility issues
On April 22, Xbox initially announced that it was aware that some players were unable to access their compatible Xbox 360 games on the Xbox Series X, with Xbox VP Jason Ronald following up with his own announcement on April 28. The vice president confirmed that the team is looking into the issue and said that a “small number” of Xbox owners are affected by a bug that suggests the console cannot connect to an Xbox console, select 360. Ronald specifically requested that the affected players send him a direct message on Twitter so the team can gather more information and investigate.

While some players seem relieved that the issue is being taken seriously, others are still very frustrated. Several were quick to point out that they can't DM Ronaldo unless he follows them back, as it's otherwise limited to X Pro members. However, Ronald did get back to some of those who had commented on these complaints, sending them direct messages himself. He noted to the others that the team had already received a lot of data and would be looking into it, and that he would be in touch if they still needed more details.
While it's good to see Xbox execs taking the situation seriously and working to fix the problem, gamers who haven't been able to access their Xbox 360 games for weeks or more are understandably upset. Unfortunately, this situation comes at the same time that Xbox is struggling to find its footing. Earlier in the year, it was reported that Xbox hardware sales were down 25%, while the “This is Xbox” marketing strategy managed to frustrate gamers and developers alike. The company is also rethinking its exclusivity strategy, with a recent study suggesting that exclusives play a huge role in buying console gamers.

The last thing Xbox needs is for its current customer list to be frustrated by a popular feature not working properly. To make matters even more problematic for the company, it seems that mostly new Xbox Series X/S owners are having this problem. Now that Xbox has been open about the matter, with any luck, all Xbox family of console gamers will soon be able to revisit Xbox classics without any more headaches.
