Xbox Game Pass adds intense game 2023 with "very positive" reviews

Trepang2 is now available at Xbox Game Passwhich joined three levels of service. This is the 14th new addition to the subscription service in April 2026 and the 68th release of Xbox Game Pass since the beginning of the year.

Trepang2 is a single-player first-person shooter from Vancouver, Canada by Trepang Studios, a publisher Worms Creative Team 17. It was first released on PC in June 2023, before coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S four months later. As of April 2026, the game has an average score of 77 on OpenCritic and over 11,200 “very positive” player reviews on Steam. Critics and fans alike praised its slow-motion mechanics and combat, some argued Trepang2 is one of the best modern FPS games for feeling overwhelmed. Its horror-tinged story, single-player focus, and bloody combat are also often compared to FEAR franchise.

The Xbox Game Pass first-person shooter catalog now includes Trepang2

Trepang2 officially expanded the Xbox Game Pass FPS catalog on April 29. Since it's not Day 1, the 2023 title is available on all tiers of the service that aren't basic: XGP Ultimate, XGP Premium, and PC Game Pass. As the debut title from Trepang Studios, it also marks the developer's first Xbox Game Pass release. Despite what its name may suggest, Trepang2 not a sequel, its title is actually pronounced “Trepang squared.”

Titles published by Team17 have historically remained on Xbox Game Pass for over a year on average. For example, the popular multiplayer shooter Hell Let Loose was available to subscribers from January 2024 to December 2025, while Overcooked 2 is part of every service level as of December 2019. So it is possible that Trepang2 will remain on Xbox Game Pass until at least the second half of 2027.

The Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 April 2026 lineup includes four more titles yet to be added to the service: Inkonbini, TerraTech Legion, Sledding gameand early access versions Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era.
