The Yozakuras continue their coordinated assault on the comfort zone. Just as Shion Yozakura is stepping up her social game, her brother Shinzo Yozakura is also set to climb out of his garbage can-style tank grenade — in an upcoming episode of the series Mission: Yozakura Family.
What can we expect from Season 2 Episode 3 Mission: Yozakura Family Revealing them is how well Shinzo Yozakura's talent for erasing things works when his own timidity is the enemy. Whether we adore Shinzo's standard persona or not, the inclusion of Shinzo Yozakura as the new episode's main protagonist doesn't seem like a coincidence. His social trials and tribulations may well pave the way for the climax of Season 2, the Silver Rank Trial, where he is Shinzo Taiya's first examiner.

Love was in the air all year long. Here are all the new romance anime series of 2025.
Shion's debut in Dating carries over to Shinzo as well
Watching Shion's femininity blossom in her own socially awkward way makes for a wonderful twist on Season 2's slice-of-life atmosphere. However, Shion's struggle in the dating world, which has earned her a place among the best characters of the kuudere anime archetype, seems to be far from a relaxing diversion from the plot of the new season.
With the next episode titled “The Big Bro Shinzo Safety Watch Team”, Shinzo Yozakura takes up the torch of fighting the introverted side of the Yozakuras. However, unlike the hacking genius Shion, Shinzo has no chance to get out of his social awkwardness.
Let's take a closer look at what we can expect from this exciting new twist in Season 2.
What awaits us in episode 3
As we can tell from the title, Episode 3 is inspired by the 98th chapter of the completed Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen manga. In this chapter, Shinzo follows in Shion's socially awkward footsteps and somehow ends up in the middle of a date that escalates into a seemingly mundane shopping spree.
I already find it odd to say the least, imagining Shinzo spending more time with a girl who isn't part of his family than with his weapons in his trash can style tank. Still, as interesting as this development is, it might not be the juiciest part the upcoming episode has in store for us.
What the security watch means for Shinzo's personal life
In Chapter 98 of the manga, Shinzo decides to visit the so-called Blood Spray Shopping Arcade – the spy underworld's very own shopping mall. After Shinzo refuses to take Taiyo with him, Ayaka Kirisaki, an associate of the Yozakura family and a strong contender for a place among secretly sinister female anime characters, volunteers to accompany Shinzo. Anticipating a lot of situational hilarity, Kengo convinces Taiyo and Nanao to conduct a covert surveillance operation on Shinzo's unexpected date.
As we saw with Shion's messy date with Kenji, being a Yozakura means we never have to face our personal quirks alone – regardless of our wishes. Despite Shinzo's insistence on going to the mall without Taiyo, the Yozakura brothers direct their unrivaled expertise in stealth warfare where the world needs it most – Shinzo's personal life.
Shinzo's Randing Mess moves the season forward
Interestingly, according to the manga, chapter 98 follows Taiya's successful completion of the Silver Rank exam, which Season 2 Mission: Yozakura Family An anime adaptation is yet to come. In this sense, Episode 3 promises to be worth watching, as we could see the same seamless interweaving of distant manga chapters as the one in the new season premiere.
There is no doubt that in Episode 1, chapters 86 and 99 of the manga are quite tastefully interwoven in a way that enriches the overall atmosphere of the family healing from a complex trauma. As for episode 3, the same magic of chapter weaving would have to work with chapters 90 and 91 of the manga where Shinzo acts as Taiya's first examiner.
We are approaching the silver test
At this point, it seems like there's no way Season 2 is going to let go of the Silver Rank Trial arc. Episode 3's jump to Chapter 98, where Taiyo rises in the Yozakura hierarchy, tells us how likely we are to start seeing an adaptation of this arc sooner than we think. In fact, the upcoming episode's focus on Shinzo may be the key to building a smooth transition to the Silver Rank Trial arc.
After all, the previous two episodes of Season 2 emphasized the underlying theme of Yozakura family members coming together to support Yozakura who is going through some personal challenge. Whether it's Kyoichiro's temporary descent into childhood, Shion's struggle to overcome her avoidant lifestyle, or Shinzo's impending misfortune, this subtle theme remains. Not only does it place Mission: Yozakura Family is among the best anime series for family viewing, but also sets the perfect mood for a silver exam.
According to chapters 90 to 97 of the manga, three members of the Yozakura family with Gold Rank status, namely Shinzo, Futaba, and Kyoichiro, challenge Taiyo during the Silver Rank exam. At the same time, Shion, Kengo, and Nanao support Taiyo with timely guidance that fills in the gaps in Taiyo's knowledge needed to pass each examiner. Shinzo happens to be Taiyo's first formidable challenge on his way to silver status.

Is slice-of-life bliss approaching?
Since the focus is on Shinzo in Episode 3, we can expect his trigger-happy nature to get the best of him at some point. Similarly, with the Silver Trial approaching, we can look at even more action just around the corner. In this slow shift towards more enlightened scenes, it's only reasonable to wonder if the new season will continue to be one of anime's most heart-warming gems.
how does it happen Mission: Yozakura Family continually proves that the slice-of-life and shonen genres can blend together very tastefully throughout anime. While the season seems poised to pack more high-speed action down the road, the anime still ranks among the gems among the best shonen and slice-of-life anime.
