While blue lightsabers are the most popular color among the Jedi in Star Wars, some of the most powerful heroes have wielded a green blade. Mostly used by wiser Jedi, the distinction between green and blue blades is not as clear as the distinction between the Jedi’s weapons and the Sith’s red lightsabers. Many have changed between the two or even wielded both in an emergency throughout the Star Wars saga.
When a Jedi wields a green blade, or when they shift from using a blue blade to a green blade, it usually signifies growth within their role in the Force. While a green blade does not necessarily mean that a Jedi ranks higher than others who wield a blue blade, it still remains an important visual cue for the type of character and arc that fans are witnessing. From wise Jedi Masters like Yoda to young Jedi like Ezra Bridger finding their path, these are the most powerful Jedi to wield a green blade.

Star Wars: 10 Strongest Jedi in the Clone Wars, Ranked
The Clone Wars is one of the most important conflicts in the Star Wars franchise and featured several of the best Jedi the order has to offer.
10
Luminara Unduil Was a Wise If Detached Jedi Master
Luminara Unduil was one of the wiser Jedi Masters, able to detach herself from connections to view most situations dispassionately. This detachment was both one of her strongest qualities and biggest weaknesses. Because of her detachment, she often was viewed as cold, especially by grieving families caught in the middle of the Clone Wars. She also failed to notice her apprentice Barris Offee’s descent to the Dark Side as Barris’ despair over the war and the Jedi’s role in it grew.
However, Luminara’s detachment helped her focus during her battles with the lightsaber. One of her most significant fights against Asajj Ventress may have ended in Luminara’s defeat, but she still put up a good fight against a powerful enemy. Later, she did manage to survive the Jedi Purge, only to be captured and later killed by the Empire.

Master Indara Deserved More Focus in the Star Wars Universe
In The Acolyte, Master Indara becomes one of Mae’s first victims. Mae targets Indara seeks to become a Sith and get revenge for the death of her family. While Indara dies in the first episode, both her battle with Mae and her appearances in flashbacks throughout the rest of the season prove that Indara was a force to be reckoned with in the High Republic era.
In The Acolyte, both Indara’s best qualities and worst decisions were fully on display. With the cancellation of The Acolyte, fans may never get to see more of Indara. Still, she would be an interesting focal point for later stories exploring earlier in the High Republic era.

Kelleran Beq Guided Young Jedi and Saved Grogu from the Jedi Purge
Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, played by Ahmed Best, first appeared as the host of the Jedi Temple Challenge. The series game show where kids competed to complete their Jedi training through obstacle courses, memory tests, and puzzles. On the show, Kelleran was a warm presence, encouraging the younglings in their training as he imparted his wisdom to them.
While Kelleran Beq did not get to showcase his full battle skills on the Jedi Temple Challenge, fans finally got a glimpse of how truly powerful he can be in Star Wars: The Mandalorian. In Season 3, Episode 4, “Chapter 20: The Foundling,” Grogu’s flashbacks to Order 66 and Operation Nightfall show that Kelleran Beq was the one to save Grogu from the Temple. During their escape, Kelleran Beq singlehandedly defeated multiple clone troopers as he guided Grogu to safety. While Kelleran’s story has not yet been fully told, he still remains one of the most pivotal guiding forces in Star Wars history.

Kit Fisto’s Lightsaber Skills Were Pivotal in Star Wars: The Clone Wars
In live action, Kit Fisto was more of a background character in the prequel trilogy. However, he plays a far more important role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Some of his most impressive battles are no longer canon since they were in Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries. Still, Kit Fisto proves his worth in both fighting and negotiating from facing General Greivous to aiding in the battles on Mon Cala.
Kit Fisto was one of the most trusted Jedi in the Order, as seen by Mace Windu taking him along to arrest Palpatine. However, Kit died in the fight at Darth Sidious’ hands. Still, Kit remains one of the more powerful Jedi fighters in the Star Wars franchise who was killed too soon due to Palpatine’s treachery.

Yaddle’s Wisdom Served the Jedi Council Well Before Her Death
While Yaddle first appeared in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, she remained a mystery to fans for many years as the only other member of Yoda’s species shown on screen until Grogu’s debut. Her story was finally expanded upon in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, which documents Count Dooku’s fall to the Dark Side. In Season 1, Episode 4, “The Sith Lord,” Yaddle uncovers Count Dooku’s treachery and tries to bring him back to the light.
While Yaddle was unable to convince Count Dooku to abandon the Dark Side, she still put up a formidable fight against him and Darth Sidious. However, ultimately, she was unable to defeat them. Dooku’s murder of Yaddle became the turning point where he fully embraced the ways of the Sith. Even though she was unable to warn the Jedi of the coming threat, Yaddle remains one of the wisest Jedi to wield a green lightsaber despite her untimely demise.

Quinlan Vos Helped Create the Hidden Path
Quinlan Vos is a character whose fate remains a mystery, not because the story hasn’t been told, but because parts of his story may or may not be canon. His main appearance in the canon Star Wars saga was in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Season 3, episode 9, “The Hunt for Ziro.” Unlike most Jedi who wield a green lightsaber blade, Quinlan was far more cocky and impulsive. In his case, his green lightsaber may be a sign of wisdom to come rather than wisdom in the moment.
In the Star Wars Legends canon, Quinlan Vos had a much larger role, and he was a fan favorite. What remains canon of Quinlan Vos’ story is uncertain. The novel Dark Disciple by Christie Golden tells the tale of some lost lore from the Clone Wars, detailing Vos’ romance with Asajj Ventress. This romance was further confirmed in Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, Season 1, Episode 4, “A Way Forward,” which shows how Ventress survived. In Kenobi, Vos is confirmed to be a part of the Hidden Path, a movement to protect Force-sensitive people from the Empire. While Vos’ ultimate fate is unknown, his survival into the Imperial era means that there may be far more to his tale in the future.

Ahsoka: 6 Things You Didn’t Know About Ezra Bridger
Ezra Bridger is an important Jedi in Star Wars that makes the leap to live-action in Ahsoka, and here’s what fans need to know.
4
Ezra Bridger Became a Beacon of Hope for the Star Wars Galaxy
Ezra Bridger began his Jedi training with a blue lightsaber and blaster combo which showcased his ingenuity and unconventional approach to the Force. However, after that lightsaber was destroyed, Ezra made a new, more traditional green lightsaber. This change signified Ezra’s growth as a Jedi and his maturity as he became a more integral part of the Rebellion.
While Ezra is a skilled fighter with a lightsaber, his true powers come instead from his connection with the Force and with creatures throughout the galaxy. Most importantly, by bonding with the Purrgil, Ezra was able to use this bond to get the Purrgil to transport Grand Admiral Thrawn’s ship from the Star Wars galaxy to another galaxy far, far away. In his return in Ahsoka, Ezra now yields a blue lightsaber blade once more, which may signal a return to his more unconventional roots, or he may pick up the green blade once more as the threat of Thrawn rises.

Qui-Gon Jinn Learned to Transcend Death in the Star Wars Universe
Qui-Gon Jinn may have been one of the wisest Jedi. Throughout Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, he navigates the complex Naboo situation while also balancing his discovery of Anakin Skywalker, who he believes to be a prophesized “Chosen One” for the Jedi Order. His death at Darth Maul’s hands seemed to be the end for his character, but for some, death is only the beginning.
In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Yoda realized that Qui-Gon Jinn had learned to become a Force Ghost and still communicate with the living. From beyond the grave, Qui-Gon taught Yoda and Obi-Wan the technique, continuing to be a Jedi Master educating others. Qui-Gon was also skilled with a blade, but his ultimate power to connect with the Force after death truly makes him one of the most powerful Jedi in history.

Luke Skywalker’s Green Lightsaber Represents His Mastery of the Force
Luke Skywalker began his Jedi training with his father’s blue lightsaber. However, his rise to the role of Jedi Master was truly symbolized after he lost the original lightsaber and built his own. Luke’s use of his green lightsaber in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi shows that Luke has matured and grown in the Force since his battle with Vader in Cloud City. Luke is more sure of himself and his mission, to end the Empire and try to bring Darth Vader back to the Light Side.
Luke succeeds in both redeeming his father and helping defeat Palpatine for the first time. After the fall of the Empire, Luke’s lightsaber skills only grow, as seen in Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, culminating in Luke defeating Kylo Ren in battle from across the galaxy. While Luke may have been the last Jedi of the old Order, the new Jedi have a foundation to rise once more due to his guidance of Rey and his work to restore the Light Side of the Force in the galaxy.

No One Can Compete with Yoda’s Centuries of Experience
The Star Wars saga has featured many powerful Jedi over the years, but the most powerful remains Yoda due in part to his longevity. Fans were first introduced to Yoda as an ancient wise Jedi master in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. However, the prequel trilogy is where his lightsaber skills truly shine in battles with powerful enemies like Count Dooku and Darth Sidious.
Not only is Yoda strong in the Force, but his guidance has helped Jedi grow for centuries. Thus, most of the entries on this list, even after Yoda’s exile, owe varying amounts of their training to Yoda. While Yoda was unable to stop the Empire’s rise, he still was instrumental in the Empire’s fall through his training of Luke. Due to his long service against many threats for hundreds of years, Yoda remains the most powerful Jedi to ever wield a green lightsaber.
