Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has officially wrapped filming and it looks like Metal Sonic will be the film's villain. While details are still sketchy, the film will mark the proper debuts of Amy Rose (Kristen Bell) and Metal Sonic, though we still don't know if anyone will voice the latter. technically speaking, Sonic 4 has yet to confirm his antagonist, so Jeff Fowler and company may have a surprise for fans.
While I don't hate Metal Sonic by any means, and it's definitely iconic, it's not exactly the most complex and interesting. Sound rascal. In the movies, Dr. Robotnik in Agent Stone's well-established sidekick who acts as both the villain's confidant and punching bag. Despite not always treating him so well, Stone clearly admires Robotnik and it's hard to imagine him ever turning against his boss.
The point is that Dr. Ivo Robotnik was already here. At IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog comics, one of the more memorable villains is Doctor Starlinean Eggman fanboy who gradually strikes out on his own after he can no longer take his hero's inability or obsession with Sonic. Despite his initial admiration for Eggman, Starline's personality is basically the exact opposite, being meticulous, professional, and efficient. Agent Stone matches Robotnik's energy in the movies, but a straight-up Starline-inspired character would probably complement Carrey's performance even better.
Starline is another mad scientist archetype that movies don't really need when half their screen time is devoted to Robotnik. However, Sonic 3The ending made it impossible for Ivo to return as a proper villain unless the films decide to restore most of his character growth. A new evil mad scientist like Starline would be perfect, especially since his “motive” could be that he hates this reformed version of Robotnik.

Look, not every villain has to be a superpowered being capable of destroying the world and outrunning Sonic; in some cases, they just need to have some courage and a willingness to do what needs to be done. As a mercenary bounty hunter, he is driven by money and truly unabashed in his pursuit of his goals.

Sonic X is a wild ride. While the first two seasons mostly adapt events from the games (for the franchise), the anime goes all out Star Wars in its final season and it's gorgeous. They are the main villains of this season Metarexbio-robots trying to take over the universe. He is their leader Dark oakand he is incredible.
Look, I know there's no way Sonic 4 will directly pull from Sonic Xlet alone his most ambitious plot, but I just want to dream for a few hundred words.
Metal Sonic is mostly a blank slate in video games because he's just a machine built to destroy. If Sonic 4 sticking to the source material, Metal Sonic will deliver the action and not much else. By comparison, Dark Oak would bring pathos, depth and a sense of theatrical scale that could help the sequel feel even bigger than its predecessor. Although technically a cold, heartless robot when introduced in the anime, Dark Oak and Metarex have an incredibly heartbreaking story. When their planet was attacked, the Metarex cybernetically mutated to fight back, a decision that robbed them of their humanity, for lack of a better word.
If Sound The movies want to avoid Robotnik turning evil again, they'll need a big enough threat to require the scientist to work with Sonic. Metarex would be perfect.

IN Sonic CDMetal Sonic is the perfect “evil” Blue Blur clone. He has his powers without any of those pesky morals and was a fantastic villain for a 2D platformer that wanted to get a message across in as few words as possible. However, he hasn't developed much since then and is probably one of the least interesting recurring characters. Sound games.
So, what about Scourge instead?
Literally introduced as an evil version of Sonic from an alternate reality, Scourge was initially present as little more than a joke, but constantly chafed at his reputation as a second-rate clone. By the end of his comic run, he would become a true powerhouse with a cool design that could rival anyone else in the series. While it may not seem obvious at first glance, he is one of the deeper characters in the series and is rare Sound a villain driven by insecurity rather than a lust for power.
Honestly, Sourge's entire arc could be dedicated to Metal Sonic.
