When Cha Hae-In borrowed a pickaxe from a miner v Solo leveling season 2Sung Jin-Woo was one of the hunters who thought it was her main weapon. It's understandable that Cha Hae-In held on to the pickaxe with such strength and determination, turning what looked like a simple mining tool into a symbol of strength and determination to help her fellow A-rank dungeon hunters.
Unfortunately, Jin-Woo apparently mistook Cha Hae-In's main weapon and thought the pickaxe was all he had, not realizing that he could wield far more deadly tools with precision, power and grace. That proves it Jin-Woo doesn't really know Cha Hae-Indespite her massive reputation as the ninth S-rank hunter in Korea and the Hunters Guild runner-up.

It's rare for Cha Hae-In to step up her game Solo levelingas the series often focuses on Sung Jin-Woo and his most intense showdowns. So when Cha Hae-In took center stage in a sparring between Korean and Japanese S-rank hunters just before the fourth raid on Jeju Island, she seized the moment by defeating Kanae Tawata and overwhelming Atsushi Kumamoto.
However, Jin-Woo quickly steals the spotlight from Cha Hae-In after stopping her solo match with Atsushi Kumamoto, who was furious. Instead of praising Cha Hae-In's fighting prowess, he berates her for getting carried away and not recognizing her skills and abilities.

Joining Jin-Woo's newly founded guild, Ahjin, proves to be the main challenge for Cha Hae-In in the story of Ahjin Guild. All she wanted was to fight by Jin-Woo's side until the end, but in order to achieve that, she was forced to overcome not just one, but two elite shadows in Jin-Woo's army.
Cha Hae-In was the only hunter who went out of her way to apply to the Ahjin guild, but Jin-Woo didn't immediately trust her. He questioned her true motives and forced her to prove herself in a way that no other suitor had to. She was an ideal guild member for Yoo Jin-Ho, but Jin-Woo ultimately rejected her request to make room for A-rank hunter Yoo Soo-Hyun.

It's not uncommon for Jin-Woo to underestimate hunters, especially after becoming incredibly strong in a short period of time. However, this time he was caught off guard by Cha Hae-In's fighting prowess as she shot down Igris while wielding a backup weapon from the Korean Hunter Association gym in the Ahjin Guild arc.
That's not all, as Cha Hae-In also showed courage when she had to face Beru, the same monster that knocked her out of the final stage of the raid on Jeju Island. She originally demanded that Jin-Woo summon Beru as his opponent, but the Shadow Monarch was certain that Cha Hae-In would not be able to defeat Igris in a single match. Jin-Woo was wrong the first time.

No wonder Jin-Woo was surprised when Cha Hae-In admitted her interest in him when he asked what her motivations were for joining the Ahjin guild.
All the while, Jin-Woo has been oblivious to Cha Hae-In's feelings, probably seeing her more as an above-average hunter and ally than someone who has feelings for him. If not for Cha Hae-In's confession, Jin-Woo wouldn't have noticed her romantic interest, let alone considered her as a potential partner in life and on the battlefield.
