Awakenings are a very interesting concept in the world Jujutsu Kaisen. In essence, these awakenings can occur at any moment when a person seems to understand their hidden potential and subsequently move to the next level. We've seen quite a few powerful Awakenings in it Jujutsu Kaisen over the years and some of them certainly stand out as defining moments in the series that changed the course of the story for good.

Gojo's Awakening vs Toji
One of the first Awakenings we saw in JJK came to Gojo during his battle against Toji Fushigura. At this point, Gojo tried to learn the power of the Reverse Cursed Technique, but kept failing. After being knocked down by Toji and defeated, Gojo woke up and was able to use this incredible reverse curse technique. He was able to fully heal himself and also Master Limitless: Red with Cursed Technique Reversal. At the same time, by combining the two Infinities of Red and Blue, he managed to create Hollow Purple, which is ultimately Toji's downfall.

Maki's Awakening
The monkey received his awakening during a perfect preparation arc Jujutsu Kaisen. As we know, she was born with a heavenly limitation. However, because of her sister, her Heavenly Restraint could not take effect properly. After Mai's sacrifice, Maki was able to fully manifest her powers and this allowed her to reach sky-high levels. She became a superman who was given a body made of steel. Of course, Maki was already phenomenal in terms of strength at this point. However, her potential was fully revealed during her fight against Naoye, where she was able to completely crush him in battle.
At this point, her Awakening had fully blossomed and she had reached the same level as Toji Fushiguro. After this awakening, all wizards grew stronger during the moon timeskip. Of course, the same should apply to Maki. At the end of Jujutsu Kaisena, she should be on a level above Toji.

Gojo's Awakening vs Sukuna
In the battle against Ryomen Sukuna, Gojo Satoru underwent another awakening. It can be said that this was Gojo unlocking the next level of his potential. Basically after hitting four black flashes in a row in battle, Gojo was able to unlock a whole new power. As stated by the author himself, Gojo was able to create a new circuit in his brain for the reverse curse technique, allowing him to regain his reverse curse technique as well as replenish his overburned technique.
Gojo essentially returned to his best with this incredible Awakening and would have won the battle against Sukun if the author hadn't made him drop his guard against World Splitting Dismantle despite having Six Eyes. Still, Gojo was able to use this technique at a high level in the middle of a battle when fighting three against one, which is very impressive.

Sukuna's Awakening versus The Sorcerers
Harnessing the power of the Black Flash has always been a way to unlock their hidden potential. It was also true to some extent for Sukuna. It allowed him to do his best, and in his case, it allowed him to use another part of his brain to manifest domain expansion. As we know, Gojo fried Sukun's brain with Unlimited Void. As such, Sukuna had to use another part of his brain to create the Malevolent Shrine, which was an incredibly high level technique.
That said, this high-level domain was not one that Sukuna could hold for long, mainly due to his deteriorating physical condition, but its power had not diminished one bit. Sukuna could only hold this domain extension for 99 seconds. However, 99 seconds was enough for him to crush the Warlock around. Yuji suffered greatly from this shrine and Sukuna immediately brought out the Divine Flames, showing once again that tapping into the black flashes allowed him to work at the highest level.

Yuji's Awakening vs Sukuna
Yuji Itadori also underwent an awakening during his fight against Sukuna. This was after he landed a powerful Black Flash on the King of Curses, allowing him to bring his hidden potential to the surface. Once this happened, Yuji gained a massive physical buff while also being able to unlock the Cursed Technique Shrine. As we know, the shrine is the same cursed technique that Sukuna himself mastered. This allowed Yuji to use slicing and dicing, among other abilities like Cleave and Dismantle. Yuji was still new to the technique at the end of the story and it took him years to fully master it as seen in the Module. However, this awakening allowed Yuji to fight on par with Sukuna himself and that is certainly impressive.
