The really weird special edition “Horifying Nightmare Set” Resident Evil Requiem, which comes with a pull-up bar in a unique box, somehow sold out in less than five hours.
Ever since it was revealed, it's been very difficult to find anything worth complaining about in Resident Evil Requiem. The only blemish on the game so far is that Capcom bizarrely decided not to release a collector's edition of the game, opting instead for some expensive figurines, rope-looking amiibo, and a Switch 2 Pro Controller that looks like it was wrapped in newspaper.
Considering how massive Resident Evil is, fans have been clamoring to buy any Requiem merchandise, which makes the lack of a collector's edition quite disappointing for many of us. However, as it turns out, sort of is collector's edition game, but it might be one of the weirdest ones I've ever seen.
Resident Evil Requiem special edition with pull-up bar somehow sells out in a few hours
The bizarre ads certainly sold a lot of fans
As reported by Automaton, one of Resident Evil Requiem's many collaborations is with e-commerce company Yume Group on a special edition game called the Horrifying Nightmare Set. The special edition bizarrely comes with a homemade pull-up bar (in a special Requiem-themed box) and costs JPY 19,000, or around $128.
I have no idea why one of the only Requiem special editions comes with a pull-down bar of all things, but the weird marketing videos and pictures of Grace using the pull-down bar seem to have done it. Automaton reports that the Horrifying Nightmare Set sold out in less than five hours, which should make it somewhat of a collector's item going forward.
To be fair to Capcom, this is far from the only weird crossover Resident Evil has had. The Village had some really weird Lady Dimitrescu merchandise once she became the shining star of the game, and the Resident Evil 4 remake was advertised with anime ads that tried to be both creepy and cute. I guess the pull up bar isn't that weird in the grand scheme of things.
