A recent survey suggested that Sega wants to bring more Yakuza games on Nintendo Switch. The Like a Dragon series, formerly known as Yakuzafinally debuted on the Nintendo Switch platform this October with the release of Yakuza Kiwami. First released in 2016, Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the very first PS2 game. Edition Kiwami on the Switch means the second release of the series on a Nintendo platform: the previous one Yakuza release was a Japanese-only port of the 2013 Wii U HD Collection, which included the first two games in the franchise, a bundle titled Ryu ga Gotoku 1 & 2 HD for Wii U.
Edition Yakuza Kiwami is doing quite well on the Nintendo Switch, according to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega. Supposedly the Switch version Yakuza Kiwami was “selling like hot cakes” and that it performed better than expected. Despite Yakuza Kiwami being over eight years old, the fact that it's selling better than expected is a pretty encouraging sign for the series on Switch. Looks like Sega wants to take advantage Kiwamia sales success if a recent survey is to be believed.
