It's not very long Pragmatics that you're thrown into battle as Hugh Williams and his capable AI sidekick Diana, the game's titular Pragmata, and you'll have to quickly master the delicate balance between hacking enemy robots and blasting them to pieces that make up the game's combat.

Use Diana's hacking skills to open up enemies to attack (albeit a bit more aggressive in return for convenience) and watch Hugh's ever-growing list of weapons to take down the many enemy bots you're up against in Pragmata. Mastering the balance early is key!

One of the many things that separates Pragmata from other similar games is the fact that you will work with Diana to hack enemies before Hugh fires his guns deal more direct damage, which is one heck of a combination of technique and firepower! The key to moving smoothly around the moon and helping Hugh make contact with Earth is finding a balance between dealing damage with your hacking and using the best payload to make the most of your direct attack power.

Although these grids start out relatively small and straightforward, you'll soon find them growing and changing shape, adding obstacles and hacking nodes and more as you learn to hack.

While mastering hacking in Pragmat is definitely critical to your success in combat, it is not the only element of the game as you will also have various weapons for Hugh use to provide backup for these hacks, track Diana's computer-based direct fire damage.

The earliest sectors in the game don't leave much wiggle room, but as you unlock new gear or better hacks, you'll want to make sure you change Hugh's cargo as needed each time before leaving the shelter you head out – what worked in one sector may not be best for the sector in front of you.

When unlocking schematics for new units in Pragmata, make sure to always print new units on the units printer so that you can permanently place them on your cargo. While you can regularly replenish ammo and firepower through enemy dropsespecially tougher enemies in group fights where you use up your best weapons quickly, it's best to come as prepared as possible if you know what to expect.

Before every major fight in the game, you'll find an exit back to the hideout, so if you're faced with a relatively simple hack and a nearby exit, it's a good idea to go back to the hideout to unlock new upgrades, perform firmware updates, save the game manually, and more.

When using the loading screen in Pragmata, you may be overwhelmed at first by how many options there seem to be, but these customizable loadings for each sector are here to help. tune the combat more to your preferencesbecause after all, there is no right way to play the game if you're progressing through the story.

The first part of your loading screen in Pragmata is dedicated to customizing the units Hugh has on hand before embarking on the next part of the exploration of the sector ahead. In this menu, you'll be able to change your primary, offensive, tactical and defensive units, with all the items you currently have unlocked available at a glance for you to compare and contrast. Initially, you can only bring one of each unit type, but later upgrades will greatly expand your arsenal of weapons in Pragmat as you progress through the main story.

Upgrades are available at the Unit Printer in the Shelter, allowing you to equip extra mods and extra hacking nodes on your cargo as you progress through the story in Pragmata. These will often cost both Pure Lunum and Lunafilament to unlock, but the cost is well worth it and they add a lot of bonus abilities to your loadout that can give you the edge you need in the game's tougher fights.
