It's officially the end of an era for GTA 6

We are now officially in the fiscal year Grand Theft Auto 6a release that marks the end of an era for fans who have waited 13 years for the game. Grand Theft Auto 5 was first released in 2013, with Rockstar iterating on the beloved open-world game through improved ports to newer consoles and PC, as well as a near-endless stream of content for the game's online multiplayer mode. But now, after 13 years, it's very close to time for fans to move on Grand Theft Auto 6.

Grand Theft Auto 6 was officially confirmed as early as 2023, and since then Rockstar has only released two trailers for the game. Breaking records GTA 6 the trailers set up the game's story, introduced its characters, showcased its extensive graphical improvements, and gave fans a look at a new take on Vice City. By the time the game was first announced, Rockstar had pushed through GTA 6 the release is being double-dated, now set to launch on November 19, 2026.

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have been waiting a while for another look at the game, and there's a chance it will happen within the next few weeks.

As Reddit user Competitive_Pipe_468 pointed out, we are now in a fiscal year GTA 6's scheduled release date for the first time ever. This could be a good sign that the game won't face any further delays and will indeed stick to its November 19th release date, although if Rockstar plans to push it back again, one would imagine that such an announcement would come sooner rather than later. Take-Two has an earnings call next month where it will likely be covered GTA 6so fans will soon either be much more certain of the game's release date or hit with a disappointing release date delay. Since its early announcement, there have been several major updates for GTA 6 and they are as follows:

February 2022 – GTA 6 is officially confirmed as in development.
September 2022 – GTA 6 leaks online with gameplay videos, early build details and even protagonist names.
December 2023 – The first GTA 6 trailer is officially released, confirming the names of its protagonists (Jason and Lucia) and the setting of the game's real-life Florida counterpart, Leonidas.
February 2024 – GTA 6 is set to release in Fall 2025.
May 2025 – The second trailer for GTA 6 is released, showing more locations, characters and relevant plots. Shortly after, GTA 6's first delay is announced, moving its release from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026.
November 2025 – A second GTA 6 delay was announced, pushing the game's release date to November 19, 2026.

It also means that marketing for GTA 6 is likely to grow significantly in the coming months. It has previously been suggested that a GTA 6 the marketing blitz will really kick off this summer, so fans can expect more trailers covering both the single-player content and the online multiplayer experience. Currently we haven't seen a single video about what GTA 6 plans when it comes to its online multiplayer, but with a dizzying, unprecedented success in mind GTA 5online mode, it is inevitable.

It is possible that GTA 6 online mode will not be available at startup. Rockstar has in the past waited some time after the release of some of its single-player games before dropping online modes, which is exactly what it did with GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. However, nothing to that effect has been confirmed yet.

Although it undoubtedly will GTA 6 trailers, promotional videos, demos and more in the coming months, fans should expect Rockstar to continue to keep as much of the game under wraps as possible. Rockstar games are full of big surprises and GTA 6 it won't be any different. Grand Theft Auto fans should have a lot more to talk about in the coming months, but they'll have to wait until November 19 to really see everything the game has to offer.
