Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games have confirmed four new playable characters for the upcoming Star Wars Episode 1: Battles for the Jedi Power remaster: Rifle Droid, Staff Tusken Raider, Ishi Tib and Mercenary. Star Wars Episode 1: Battles for the Jedi Power was originally released back in 2000 and is set in the same time frame as A hidden threat. It was originally developed by LucasArts and released for the original PlayStation and later the Dreamcast. It's a mix of platformer and beat-em-up that also features two-player co-op multiplayer.
Following on from another re-release the studio previously did, Aspyr has announced a remaster Battles for Jedi Power is bringing the classic game to modern hardware, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, in early October of this year. The remaster will have updated graphics, modernized controls and all levels unlocked. This remaster will also be based on the Sega Dreamcast version, which includes training and versus modes, and will be released in January 2025. 2025 version Battles for Jedi Power it will also feature several playable characters that were not in the original release.

While the player normally fights Rifle Droids Battles for Jedi Powerthe playable droid is on the player's side and can use ranged attacks. Staff Tusken Raiders are melee fighters who use their signature staff. Ishi Tib's character, unlike the other two characters mentioned above, is focused on being a melee fighter. The last character revealed so far is the Mercenary, an enemy first created for 1999 Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace a game adaptation that then appeared as an enemy Battles for Jedi Power. The remaster means that this enemy will be a playable character for the first time in va Star Wars game.
Aspyr notes that these aren't the only new playable characters in the upcoming season Battles for Jedi Power remaster, with more characters to be revealed as the release date approaches. Based on previous roster members, the Rifle Droid will likely play similarly to Queen Amidala and Captain Panaka, who both had rifles. Tusken Raider could similarly be based on Jedi fighters, while Ishi Tib and Mercenary will likely be more unique.
