Submachine guns are extremely effective in Battlefield 6 due to their rapid fire and low recoil values. They are much easier to use than assault rifles and carbines in close quarters, but their slower projectiles will make hitting moving targets from a long distance a challenge.
There are quite a few SMGs Battlefield 6and if you're looking for something that best suits your playstyle, here's a ranked list that pits every SMG in the game against each other, ranking them based on their performance for their intended niche.

Compared to our other ranked gun lists, we're going to do things a little differently here. SMG performance v Battlefield 6 varies significantly based on intended shooting distance — it would be unfair to compare a mid-range SMG like the UMG-40 to the nearby KV9, so we've decided to split this list into two different ones based on SMG classification.
The best midrange SMG in Battlefield 6
There are four weapons classified as Mid Range SMGs in the game so far, and they all feature incredibly stable recoil patterns, decent accuracy when firing in full auto mode, and solid TTK values out to 40 meters.
PW5A3
The PW5A3 takes the cake as the best SMG in BF6 because it is easy to use. With the right attachments, it turns into a laser beam that can melt people at close to medium range. It won't take long to get the best built-in PW5A3 BF6 either, as most of his best attachments can be unlocked fairly early on.
All of the midrange SMGs in the game perform well, but the PW5A3 tends to perform better in close quarters compared to the rest. It is the most versatile weapon in its category and will likely maintain its top spot
PW7A2
This SMG is very similar to the PW5A3 in recoil and TTK values. Can kill as fast as PW5 at 10 meters and more, sa TTK at close range 0.31 and 0.38 at 10 and 40 meters. Both guns also have insanely low recoil, making them comparable in almost every way.
What keeps the PW7A2 from stealing the top spot is the rate of fire. Fires at 971rpm and deals ~16.5 damage at most and 14 at least. That's a 6-7 bullet-to-kill value less effective ammunition than its larger cousin. This isn't that big of a drawback though, and both PW SMGs have access to 40-round magazines and synthetic tips.
By default, the PW7A2 has the highest muzzle velocity of any SMG and as such is easier to use against moving targets at medium range compared to others.
SL9
The SL9 fires slower than any of the above guns, but it is recoil is virtually non-existent even without attachments. In terms of damage, it has almost the same values as the PW5A3, with both weapons deals equal damage to targets at equal distances. This makes the SL9 inferior when it comes to TTK – its fastest TTK is 0.35 at 10 meters and its lowest is 0.53 at 80 meters.
One thing worth noting about the SL9 is its high accuracy stat. This SMG is less affected by flowering BF6 compared to its peers, due to which suitable for sustained fire at medium range.
UMG-40
The UMG-40 has the slowest rate of fire of all BF6 SMG, but it also has the longest effective range. This weapon can kill a target from a distance of 60 meters with six body shots, with an optimal TTK value of 0.47s. This may not seem like much, but when you factor in the high fully automatic accuracy of the UMG-40, this weapon can outperform even carbines and assault rifles. BF6 at a distance of 40 to 60 meters without being forced to shoot.
Still, the UMG-40 is somewhat boxed into those 40-60 meter shootouts, making it much less versatile than the others. You can still use it for CQB, but unless you're actively going for headshots, you'll likely be outmatched.
Best melee SMG in Battlefield 6
As their classification suggests, melee SMGs are made to crush people in CQB. Very few weapons can compete with these weapons at their intended ranges, but as such they tend to struggle when firing at moving targets at long range.
KV9
In terms of pure lethality, the KV9 is the most powerful SMG v Battlefield 6. With a tremendous 1080 RPM and a maximum damage value of 25KV9 can kill a person 0.16 secondsthe fastest of all weapons in the game bar shotguns and sniper rifles. To make it even better, its recoil is so low that it can be used for effective shooting at longer distances.
The biggest drawback of the KV9 is the size of the magazine. It only has 17 rounds by default, and the largest magazine you can unlock holds up to 27 rounds. Getting multiple kills with the KV9 will be a tough task, and with its extreme rate of fire, you risk losing many of your mage's limited bullets if your target is off.
SGX
The SGX is the most comprehensive of all melee SMGs. Its recoil is low, its accuracy is good and it shoots great. The SGX has the same optimal TTK value as the M433 in BF6, a weapon that is notoriously good for melee combat.
There is almost nothing bad to say about SGX. You can also use it for mid-range combat if you tap fire correctly, though its low projectile speed makes it not ideal when it comes to shooting anyone beyond 40 meters. However, it suffers from a long charging time.
USG-90
While this weapon may not kill as fast as the KV9 and SGX, it makes up for the lost lethality by having a large 50 round magazine. The USG-90 is designed for chaining kills together, and if you're playing on smaller maps Battlefield 6it can prove to be a very reliable weapon when enemies start pouring in from everywhere.
The USG-90's horizontal kick is a bit harsher compared to the rest of the SMG, and even sacral shooting can result in missed shots from long range. It also cannot accept handguard extensions, preventing you from maximizing recoil reduction.
SCW-10
The SCW-10 is the toughest SMG in the game. It's the only one with a max damage value of ~33.4, meaning it's the only SMG that can kill targets with three body hits. Unfortunately, this 3-hit kill distance is very limited, and unless you're right next to your target (roughly 5-8 meters), you'll kill with four body shots regardless.
Four bullets to kill someone is still very good for an SMG, but here Here comes the SCW-10's biggest hurdle: magazine size. It is equipped as standard with a 15-shot magand you can upgrade it to a maximum of 25 rounds. This one unlocks at rank 25, which means you'll be spending a lot of time using the SCW-10 with a miniature magazine. To top it all off, the weapon's base reload speed is 2.6 seconds, which is almost as long as the SGX and SL9.
