Beginning Re: Zero The goal was to impress the audience, and he succeeded in introducing Subaru to a foreign fantasy land that was different from his own. As he tangles with Emilia and gains ground, Subaru becomes embroiled in a search for Emilia's missing insignia. While Subaru tries to protect Felt, the old man of Roma and Emilia, the overconfident protagonist recruits the knight Reinhard van Astrea after many deaths to help defeat the evil killer. Despite only having 3 episodes, the first arc of the show provides an interesting introduction to the world Re: Zeroshowcasing the comedic dynamic between a clueless Subaru and his newfound friends. Even in the opening episodes, there are epic fights and character conflicts Re: Zero a sight to behold. Although only one 90-minute episode was released, Re: Zero the latest arc promises plenty of quality and action as more chaos uproots Subaru and his crew. Emilia's party takes place in the town of Priestella and is invited by Anastasia Hoshino, who mentions a crystal that Emilia desires to restore Puck to full health. Throughout their adventures, the group encounters familiar faces such as Reinhard and Crusch Karsten, with the show's iconic comedic tone shining throughout the arc's opening episode.

Despite this, trouble arises in the final sequence, where Sin Archbishop representing Wrath, Sirius Romanee-Conti, kills Subaru and many others in a massacre, resulting in a major cliffhanger that left the audience on the edge of their seats. In this whirlwind of episodes, the Attack Arc promises to showcase the ever-growing number of Sin Archbishops out to harm Subaru and his friends. However, the arc is still in its infancy in the anime and there is much left to explore in the upcoming episodes, although early signs point to a promising arc to come.


3 Adventures in Roswaal Manor

As Subaru continued his journey, he ended up at Roswaal Manor, where he encountered fan favorites such as the Oni sisters, Rem and Ram, Roswaal L. Mathers, and the stubborn spirit of Beatrice. While the main character goofs off when interacting with his new friends, this arc has a healthy dose of Death Returns, deception, and agents of evil trying to subvert Subaru. Despite characters like Roswaal and Rem appearing pleasant and joyful on the surface, they both have a menacing side, with the famous blue-haired maid killing Subaru based on his suspicious behavior.


Throughout the arc, Subaru struggles to curry favor with his new companions, including Emilia, which makes for comedic yet compelling viewing. At the climax of the arc, Subaru begins to show his usefulness as he saves Rem and Arlam Village from a pack of Mabeasts, showing growth from the beginning of the show where he seems oblivious to the thoughts of others. While engrossing, much of the arc sets the stage for future events, serves as an introduction to many characters that will affect the proceedings, and showcases Subaru's better understanding of his power.

In the second half of Season 1, tension and hardship arrive at Subaru's door as he becomes estranged from Emilia for his actions in the royal selection process. After making a fool of himself in front of hundreds of high-ranking officials, which included a beating from Knight Julius, Emilia casts Subaru aside for his selfish attitude, leaving him lost. As a result, Subaru fights with the help of many friends, including Remo, Crusch, and even his nemesis Julius, and fights against obstacles such as the White Whale and the Witch Cult, who aim to eliminate the residents of Roswaal Manor, including Emilia.

Throughout the redemption arc, Subaru faces many trials and tribulations that push him to his limits. However, Subaru learns to trust the people he meets along the way to help him fight his battles. One of the many great aspects of the arc is the amount of jaw-dropping battles. As such, Subaru and Crusch's army's riveting battle against the White Whale proved to be epic, while the removal of part of the witch cult brought a sense of euphoria after Subaru's problems with the group earlier in the arc.
