City of the Wolves characters leaked online

Information on 12 undeclared Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves characters appeared online and came from a thorough datamining. The leak also offers some indirect hints of previously unreported details, suggesting Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will receive a minimum of five DLC seasons.

Developer SNK's veteran fighting game launched Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in April 2025, marking his return to the series for the first time since then Garou: Mark of the Wolves in 1999. The game's most recent content was released just a few days ago on April 24th, in the form of the first anniversary update kicking off Season 2 with Wolfgang Krauser. However, the patch appears to contain more than originally advertised.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves review

Fatal Fury is back with a vengeance with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, a thoroughly entertaining, if slightly light, return to form.

City of the Wolves is reportedly getting a dozen new characters

Many unreleased character references have been revealed in the latest version Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves April 25th. Thanks to some early and diligent data mining efforts, build 2.0.1 was found to contain mentions of 12 new fighters spanning character ID entries PL038 through PL049. Reddit user Cednym interpreted the leak as an indicator that SNK is planning at least five seasons in total after launch.

Of the 12 new slots, two have preliminary character identification: PL047 is read as Mr. Karate and the previously omitted PL036 as Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. The remaining ten items are not named in the files, suggesting that their release order may change. The findings were expanded by two earlier Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves datamines from February and May 2025, both of which indicated character IDs that have since been confirmed in-game, as recently documented by Krauser. Fighters named in these earlier passes, including Duck King, Blue Mary, and Ryo Sakazaki, also reappear in the expanded Cednym group. Datamin doesn't care who fills the ten unnamed slots or when each season starts.

All seasonal estimates are preliminary; release order is still subject to change, especially for unidentified characters.

Based on the limited sample size currently on offer, five seasons would push SNK's character action game into 2029 and a multi-year DLC trajectory in the spirit Street Fighter 6. The two titles have even more things in common since not even a year has passed since then Street FighterKen Masters moved to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves season 1

The mysterious ten leaked online shortly after SNK permanently discounted its stylish brawler from $59.99 to $19.99 in celebration of its one-year anniversary. As well as references to fighters yet to come, the price cut could be interpreted as a signal that the Japanese developer may be planning a longer post-launch content cycle. After all, a lower price for the base game could help expand the game's audience, making the multi-year pursuit of extensive paid DLC more viable. Either way, SNK has yet to officially commit to any Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves plans beyond the recently introduced second season.
