Diablo 4 Season 14 is already making some players seriously worried about the upcoming content drop. While Season 14 won't start for a few weeks, the recently concluded 3.1 PTR for Diablo 4 has received some glowing feedback, suggesting Blizzard has some work to do to ensure it lives up to the popular 13th season.
Edition Diablo 4'with Lord of Hate expansion in April led to a very strong season for the game. The expansion was extremely well received by players, who praised its significant changes to the ending and the way it concluded the Age of Hatred saga. It provided a lot of positive momentum for the game, which many believe will not be able to continue for a 14th season.

Diablo 4's new rarest item is a complete game changer
Diablo 4's new item was considered the rarest in the game and finally appeared almost a month after the release of Lord of Hatred.
Diablo 4 Season 14 PTR feedback has players worried
Diablo 4The 3.1 PTR for the upcoming Season 14 ran between June 2nd and June 9th, and the feedback from the community during and after it was pretty brutal. One Reddit thread started by user EXIIL1M_Sedai claimed that the season's mechanics – Pandemonium Ruptures – are just “standing in a circle hoping they don't get shot and on their knees praying to RNGesus”. Many in the thread agreed with this sentiment, suggesting that they would likely skip Season 14 if nothing changed regarding the seasonal mechanic. Some took issue with the fact that there didn't seem to be as much new content on the way, while others had a lot of criticism for how RNG-based the game could become in Season 14.

Part of the problem is that Diablo 4 Season 14's main seasonal mechanic is based on a specific activity, rather than something that affects the game at all times. One of the best examples is Season 10's Chaos Armor, which remains one of the most popular Diablo 4 season mechanics so far. This affected the way players built their builds, giving them alternatives that influenced every decision they made. Not every season mechanic will be as popular as the last, but it seems that Season 14 may be particularly unpopular with players.
Negative towards initial impressions of Diablo 4 Season 14 may be fueled in part by the overwhelming positivity surrounding Season 13. While there was no specific seasonal mechanic to speak of in Season 13, popularity Lord of Hate additions meant it was one of the highest-rated series to date. Given that there was a slight sentiment that the new Warlock class was underpowered among players, it's all the more impressive that Season 13 was as popular as it was.
It's worth remembering that the PTR is all about getting feedback for the planned Diablo 4 update. The idea behind hosting them is that Blizzard gets a wide range of feedback that they can then use to improve the final product. So while feedback on the 3.1 PTR has been negative, it doesn't guarantee it Diablo 4 Season 14 will be a flop. It's expected to launch on June 30, so Blizzard still has some time to fine-tune the upcoming season and address the negative feedback through major gameplay changes.
