Nintendo Switch 2 users can get a special edition Resident Evil Requiem Pro Controller when the game comes out in 2026, but it won't be cheap. The Resident Evil the franchise has close ties with Nintendo, with the beloved RE4 originally released as a GameCube exclusive and get your own limited controller for that system. While Resident Evil Requiem won't be exclusive to the Switch 2, it's getting a unique and expensive piece of hardware for the console.
Nintendo's latest console faced considerable criticism over its price, but that didn't stop it from becoming a massive success. As of September 2025, the Switch 2 has sold over 2 million units in Japan alone and over 7 million worldwide. A wide range of upcoming games could help push those numbers even further, but some of Nintendo's matches with these games might shock fans a bit.
Resident Evil Requiem is getting a $100 Switch 2 Pro controller
Nintendo and Capcom have revealed a special edition Resident Evil Requiem Pro Controller for $99.99, and pre-orders have already opened. The driver will be released on February 27, 2026, the same day Requiem and two others Resident Evil titles are coming to Switch 2, but it's already sold out on Nintendo's US site, despite its high price. Fans in other countries may still be able to pre-order it through Nintendo, and as of this writing US pre-orders are still available at Best Buy.
The Requiem The Pro Controller is far from the most expensive gamepad on the market today. Still, it may surprise some fans considering how Nintendo raised the price of the Switch 2 Pro Controller before the system even came out in response to changing market conditions. The Vanilla Pro Controller currently costs $89.99 on the My Nintendo Store, which is already more expensive than the DualSense for PS5 and the Xbox Wireless Controller.
Later in 2026, Resident Evil Requiem will also get some Amiibos, though Capcom and Nintendo haven't revealed their final design. It's worth noting that Amiibos have also gone up in price in the Switch 2 era, but it's also unclear by exactly how much Requiem one will stand. These will be released sometime in the summer of 2026, so fans should keep their eyes peeled for more news on what to expect from them in the coming months.
