Final Fantasy 7 Revelation game director Naoki Hamaguchi said that the infamous fight between Tifa and Scarlet is returning as a minigame in the upcoming title. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be the decisive final Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, with plenty of callbacks to the original Final Fantasy VII that longtime fans may recognize.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation was revealed during the last part of the Summer Games Fest, where fans were able to try out the game's story and gameplay elements. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is coming next spring on all current-gen platforms, meaning it won't have a timed PlayStation exclusivity like its predecessors. Despite the differences between the original game and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Square Enix has ensured that some elements from the PS1 classic have been carried over to Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth in some capacity.

Along with vast open world environments for players to dig through, Final Fantasy 7 Revealedn will offer some much sought after mini-games as part of the story. Hamaguchi said in an interview with Denfamico (translated by Aitaikimochi on Twitter) that the slap fight between Tifa and Scarlet will return as one of Revelationmini-games during the story. In the original Final Fantasy VIIthere was a slap battle after Tifa and Barret were captured by Shinra forces and sentenced to public execution in Junon. However, the emergence of the sapphire weapon gave Tifa and Barrett a chance to escape. Tifa ran onto the barrel of the Mako Cannon and engaged Scarlet in a battle. The minigame itself was a quick event that required players to press a certain button when prompted on screen. Regardless of the outcome of the fight, Tifa then fled to Highwind.

Hamaguchi also provided some insight into the features players can expect Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Hamaguchi said that the number of minigames in Revelation would not decrease from Rebirthbut the difficulty of some activities will be moderated after player feedback. As Hamaguchi previously expressed regrets about the difficulty curve behind some of them Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's trophies and achievements, it is possible that players will have a less tedious time Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
However, slap fighting is not the only activity that Final Fantasy VII fans can enjoy in Revelation. In a January 2026 interview, Hamaguchi confirmed that Queen's Blood would be back Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
