The mysterious young man responsible for the rescue Dragon Ball ZFuture Trunks, the main timeline, is one of the most tragic and powerful characters in the entire series. He officially was Dragon Ball's second Super Saiyan, and despite only starring in the Cell Saga, quickly became a fan favorite. Due to time travel, Future Trunks regularly stars in spin-off material such as Super Dragon Ball Heroes as one of the main characters, but eventually returned to the canon of the series v Dragon Ball SuperGoku Black Saga.

Future Trunks doesn't have access to as many transformations as Goku or Vegeta, but he doesn't need them either. As one of the strongest hybrid Saiyans in Dragon BallFuture Trunks is a child prodigy with the same potential as Gohan. Future Trunks is unlikely to return Dragon Ball Super's future, but he leaves the series of one of the strongest fighters in the Dragon Ball and a multiversal warrior who can even tap into God Ki despite having no divine training at all.

SSJ Future Trunks was one of the youngest Super Saiyans in the series

Future Trunks was the youngest character to ever unlock Super Saiyan in his timeline. Trunks was 14 years old when he first turned Super Saiyan in his future, becoming about as strong as Super Saiyan Goku was when he first fought Frieza on Namek before going back in time and killing Mecha Frieza.

Super Saiyan is Future Trunks' main form for the first half of the Cell Saga, finally overcoming it once he trains with Vegeta in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. By the end of his term of office in Dragon Ball ZFuture Trunks is so powerful that he is able to kill his versions of Androids 17, 18 and Imperfect Cell in SSJ1 without having to use any of his Grade forms.

Future tribes unlocked Super Saiyan level 2 by training with Vegeta for a year

Super Saiyan Grade 2 is an improvement on the original Super Saiyan transformation, which enlarges the user's body and increases their Power Level by a significant amount at the expense of more Ki drain. Both Vegeta and Future Trunks unlock Super Saiyan Grade 2 by training for a year inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Super Saiyan Grade 2 is significantly stronger than Semi-Perfect Cell and Androids, but completely pales in comparison to Perfect Cell. Future Trunks uses SSJ Grade 2 during a battle with the Cell Juniors in the Cell Games, but eventually outlasts his opponent, leaving Super Saiyan 2 Gohan to kill every Cell Junior single-handedly.

Future Tribes Secretly Unlocked Super Saiyan Grade 3 Training Harder Than Vegeta

During the battle with Perfect Cell, it was revealed that Future Trunks had secretly unlocked Super Saiyan Grade 3 by training harder than Vegeta in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Unfortunately for Future Trunks, there is a difference between training hard and training smart. Super Saiyan Grade 3 gives the user a power level comparable to Super Saiyan 2 at the cost of a significant reduction in speed.

IN Dragon Ball Z manga, Super Saiyan Grade 3 Future Trunks will never even hit Perfect Cell. Despite the extreme power level, Super Saiyan Grade 3 is practically useless and drains the user's Ki at a rapid rate. Super Saiyan Grade 3 exists to illustrate why Goku and Gohan chose to master Super Saiyan instead of using either Grade form for the Cell Games.

Super Saiyan 2 Future Trunks is as strong as Super Saiyan 3 Goku

IN Dragon Ball SuperFuture Trunks unlocks Super Saiyan 2 after Supreme Kai dies in his Majin Buu Saga version. Super Saiyan 2 Future Trunks is strong enough to kill Dabura (which Gohan couldn't even do in the main timeline) and directly prevents Majin Buu from reviving. After unlocking SSJ2, Future Trunks perfects his form much like Goku and Gohan did for SSJ1 in the year Dragon Ball Z.

IN Dragon Ball Super manga, Super Saiyan 2 Future Trunks powers up with Super Saiyan 3 Goku and is described as being as strong as Goku. This is a huge achievement, especially considering how powerful Goku is in Goku Black Saga. Super Saiyan 2 Future Trunks is so powerful that Goku eventually needs to use Super Saiyan God to defeat him.

Future Trunks goes Super Saiyan 3 in Dragon Ball Heroes

Dragon Ball Heroes he likes to give Saiyans transformations that they never unlocked in the canon timeline. Dragon Ball Heroes gave fans Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta long before he unlocked SSJ3 in Dragon Ball DAIMAfor example. Little is known about Super Saiyan 3 Future Trunks' power level, but realistically, he should be stronger than Super Saiyan 2 Future Trunks. Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks defeated Fused Zamasu

Super Saiyan Rage is an exclusive form and version of Super Saiyan Blue unlocked by Future Trunks in Dragon Ball Super anime Goku Black Saga. During the final battle with Fused Zamasu, Future Trunks manages to tap into some form of the god Ki, combining it with the Genki of everyone left alive in his timeline, transforming his Super Saiyan 2 version into Super Saiyan Rage.

By performing God's ritual Super Dragon Ball Heroes with Xeno Goku, Xeno Vegeta, Xeno Gohan, Xeno Goten and Xeno Pan Xeno Trunks unlocks Super Saiyan God. When using Super Saiyan God, Xeno Trunks earned the nickname “God of War”.
