As exciting as it will be to learn more about Faye God of War Laufeyand take advantage of her flashy aerial combos, it's the Everywhen environment that might be the most interesting thing about her. A chaotic afterlife of gods where different mythologies come together to form surprising alliances or fight over territory, God of War fans can expect to see a few things unlike anything else in the franchise. Fay's initial adversaries fall under the first umbrella, with Sekhmet and Begtse combining Egyptian and Mongol mythologies into a single army in the afterlife.
These two characters are presented as Faye's main enemies within God of War Laufeycapture her early and make an intimidating duo. However, based on the first impression they give off, neither feels like an end game threat. Sure, the giant cat Sekhmet leaves when she goes to investigate some sort of explosion—perhaps one of the Norse gods Kratos kills when he enters Everywhen—is intimidating and will likely add to her inevitable boss fight. Still, Everywhen presents an opportunity for a much scarier villain than the fire god Faye best in the first 20 minutes of the game and his ally Athena from the Greek games saga.

God of War Laufey escapes 2nd playable character
God of War Laufey features Faye as the main playable character, but leaks claim she won't be the only one in the game.
Why Athena from God of War makes perfect sense for Faye's true villain
Some fans have already theorized how the Norse gods might return in Faye's afterlife adventure; maybe she's interacting with Odin and fan theories about the Father of All being her, well, father will be proven true. Alternatively, maybe he can retaliate with Thor so players can see how the battle backfired so strongly God of War RagnarokThe crater area took place. While these interactions are certainly possible and even likely, these gods would be resigned to where they ended up. They won't yet have armies under their command, nor will they know enough about the Everywhen rules to be the biggest baddies Faye can face. Athena, however, is a different story.

While any of the Greek gods that Kratos took down could have been big players in The Everywhen, the likes of Zeus and Ares feel like they've been there, done that. Athena, but? Her story still has some meat on its bones. After Kratos went against her wishes at the end God of War 3he'll probably be stewing in the afterlife waiting for an opportunity for revenge. Having lost her ability to rule the “real” Greek world, she was able to gather an army in the afterlife with the sole purpose of one day torturing Kratos when he arrives in Everywhen. Assuming Athena's ghost wasn't a hallucination God of War (2018), then it's clear that she still harbors hatred for the man who accidentally killed her and deliberately demolished the Greek pantheon.
Obviously, Kratos isn't dead yet, but Athena may have stumbled upon the next best thing since Faye ended up in Everywhen. Perhaps this is the real reason Faye was captured by Sekhmet and Begtse; maybe Athena wants to torture her to punish Kratos for his transgressions, hurting his wife and not allowing her to have peace after death to return to him. Obviously, Athena's posthumous villainy would have to result in a boss fight, but he said the fight would certainly be special since Athena never had a boss fight in the original. God of War trilogy. Zeus or Ares as a secret villain would represent a “been there, done that” feel, but Athena would tie both eras of the franchise together.
There's also value in having the woman who shaped the best version of Kratos fight the one who shaped the worst, as it allows the Spirit of Sparta to haunt the story in the same way that Faye haunted the story. God of War (2018).
The upcoming remake of the God of War trilogy makes the Greek saga more likely to appear
While Kratos confronts his past self RagnarokThe excellent Valhalla DLC has already done a lot of work to further connect the Greek and Norse sagas, the modern version of the first three games takes things to another level. Newer soon God of War fans will experience Kratos' original story regardless of any changes God of War remake trilogy could do, Athena will undoubtedly be an aspect that remains. The Greek saga we're now returning to could certainly just be Sony cashing in on nostalgia, but it could also be intentional as parts of the Greek story could be relevant to Faye's adventure.
Obviously, this is just a theory, and maybe an original character like Sekhmet is really Laufey's main antagonist in the game. Still, it's hard not to see the potential in Athena being involved for Faye God of War Laufeybecause it would allow for some downright incredible storytelling opportunities.
