Helldivers 2 Players Discuss mission etiquette

The holiday season means gifts, food, catching up on video games, and of course, providing democracy! With the holiday season upon us, players have been catching up on titles they may have missed or haven't finished, and Helldivers 2 has received plenty of Christmas recruits.

Helldivers 2 was once an uplifting and collaborative live-action gem, but since launch, the community has become a hotbed of outrage.

With the arrival of new players to the game, the veteran Helldivers decided to wear the cadets on lower difficulties, giving them the gift of freedom and high-level tricks. However, each game has its own unspoken etiquette, and veteran players teach newcomers how to work together as a team as they take on the enemies of freedom.

This is the Helldiver's way

Over on the Helldivers subreddit, veteran players have noted some game etiquette tips that newer players should read. While things like intentional friendly burning and ending games for Super Credit farming are understandable, there are some things newer players don't realize. Leave it to the long-time players in the community to show them the way.

The original post by GreenMarmoset covers things like not stealing other players' gear unless it's offered, the fact that super credits, medals, requisitions and samples are shared, not calling an extraction when the rest of the team is gone, and not requiring an offer drop if you're running solo.

Other players in the community have also added etiquette points to the list, such as not calling for reinforcements on your side if someone on the other side of the map is knocked out, tagging a downed Helldiver's gear is always appreciated, and not getting too worked up over random friendly fire.

Some other pointers included tagging a heavy so reinforcements can drop on it, throwing bombing tricks away from the team and calling reinforcements away from the action if it's too hot to handle. Letting the watchtowers do their work is an overlooked but important tip, as they tend to clear out more smaller enemies than an airstrike.

Of course, some of these guidelines are open to interpretation. Not everyone knows these unspoken rules, and even if you follow them, someone else might think you're not doing the right thing. Unless someone is actively toxic, there's no need to get upset about someone's in-game actions. Because as much as we love the delivery of democracy, it's just a game after all.

Happy Holidays Helldivers!
