As we have explored with many guides, there are several items and mechanics Vampire crawlers. You can change the way you play cards, your starting stats, build powerups with certain characters, and more. One of the key items to help you run is gems.
Gems can be found in a number of ways, and with dozens and dozens of options to unlock, it's essential that you get the basics down early. In this guide, we'll quickly explain how gems work, why they're so important, and where to find them in Vampire Crawlers.
How gems work
Gems are unique items that add upgrades and perks to your cards. Once you pick up the gem you will see a window with all of them cards in your deck that have a free slot. Add a gem to it, and every time you play this card, you activate the gem's effect.
There are more than 50 gems in the gameand you will need to unlock them before you can find them in your runs. Some of the gems include:
- Double and triple damage: They do what their name says.
- Copy: The card is copied when used.
- Armor: Adds armor to your character.
- Draw: You draw another card.
- Easy combination: The card gains combo multiplier advantage regardless of the mana rise rule – but you lose the combo.
- Luck: Your luck stat is increased.
- Refund: Your card does not spend mana when used.
As you can see, there are gems that will increase your stats (mostly only for the encounter, not the entire run), others that will activate specific effects in the run, and a few that will mess with your mana consumption.
You can check how to unlock each gem in the Unlocks building in your village.
It is worth saying that unlike your cards, your gems are not affected by the combo multiplier. A gem that gives you 20 percent luck will always give you the same amount.
How to find gems
You can find gems in one of three ways:
- Opening regular or boss chests has a chance to spawn a gem.
- Open purple locked chestswhich you must open by sacrificing cards of the same color as the lock.
- Leveling up and get the gem.
Having more luck (stat) will increase your chances of getting four rewards instead of three; so more chances for gems.
